The Ariba Catalog Senior Manager is responsible for overseeing and maintaining supplier catalogs in the SAP Ariba platform. This role ensures accurate and up-to-date product and service data, supports procurement teams by optimizing catalog functionality, and collaborates with suppliers to streamline purchasing processes. The Catalog Manager ensures compliance with corporate procurement policies while enhancing user experience and driving procurement efficiency.

Job Description

Catalog Management:

  • Create, upload, and maintain supplier catalogs in SAP Ariba (static and punchout catalogs).
  • Ensure catalog content aligns with organizational procurement strategies and policies.
  • Validate and update pricing, descriptions, and supplier information in catalogs regularly.

Supplier Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with suppliers to obtain accurate and updated catalog data.
  • Troubleshoot catalog-related issues with suppliers and ensure punchout catalog integrations function correctly.
  • Provide guidance to suppliers on Ariba catalog requirements and standards.
  • Ensure proper fulfillment of catalog purchases and research alternatives of out of stock items.
  • Strong understanding of the Ariba Enablement and Onboarding processes

Data Quality and Compliance:

  • Perform regular audits to ensure catalog data accuracy and compliance with corporate and legal requirements.
  • Monitor compliance with negotiated contracts and pricing agreements.
  • Resolve discrepancies in catalog data or pricing in collaboration with suppliers and internal teams.

User Support and Training:

  • Act as the first point of contact for catalog-related inquiries from procurement teams or end users.
  • Train internal teams on navigating and using Ariba catalogs effectively.
  • Develop and maintain user guides and training materials for catalog functionality.
  • Train and enable suppliers on the Ariba Network.

Process Optimization:

  • Work with the procurement and IT teams to improve catalog processes and drive automation where possible.
  • Provide input into Ariba system upgrades or configuration changes to optimize catalog usability.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to catalog performance, such as adoption rates and order accuracy.

Reporting and Analytics:

  • Generate and analyze reports on catalog usage, spend, and supplier performance.
  • Identify trends and opportunities for cost savings or process improvement.

Qualifications/ Required

Knowledge/ Experience and Skills:

Qualifications
 

Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of procurement processes and supplier management.
  • Familiarity with catalog standards (e.g., UNSPSC classification, commodity codes).
  • Experience in catalog and supplier enablement within Ariba.
  • Proficient in data analysis and reporting tools (Excel, Power BI, or equivalent).
  • Experience in training and enabling suppliers on the Ariba Network.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to liaise with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Experience interacting with senior level clients and vendors.
  • Evaluating and developing procurement strategies to maximize efficiency and minimize cost with minimal oversight.

Skills and Experience
 

Minimum of 5 years of experience in Ariba Catalog Management including the ability to work through transformational efforts within the team

  • Executive presence and influence with demonstrated ability to tell a story and influence the direction.
  • Anticipates trends, understand implication and create actionable plans to prepare for future needs.
  • Familiar with emerging Procurement technologies.
  • Outstanding communication skills, ability to speak to the business and simplify complex concepts.
  • Strong customer service focus.
  • Experience listening to client needs and partnering to deliver results that are mutually beneficial for the client and the organization.
  • Effective influencing and negotiating skills, both external and internal, and ability to flex influence with various levels of the organization.
  • High degree of analytical skills, able to rapidly understand and synthesize disparate data into meaningful information to support critical business decisions.
  • Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and development/commercialization of new drugs.

Education
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or relevant technical expertise.  Advanced degree (MBA/MS) preferred.
