Job Description:
What You'll Do
The Senior Manager Business Strategy Analysis for Core Platforms will support driving a competitive network-oriented payments platform capability roadmap for our Discover Network and Diners Club businesses. This role will drive analytical, and planning activities for our core transaction processing platforms (platform analytics and insights) focused on alignment of our transaction platform capabilities and services with our Payments processing partners. The Senior Manager will collaborate with the network functions, including operations, product delivery teams, pricing, analytics and technology teams to prioritize demand based on business rationale, and will partner with functional Core Platform delivery teams to influence roadmaps, and drive execution across the cross-functional partners to deliver on the overall roadmap.
How You'll Do It

  • Leads a team that identifies opportunities of diverse scope related to advancing business objectives and growth strategies.
  • Researches and assesses industry trends and opportunities in support of Discover's strategy, by direct industry participation and via feedback from key internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinates with cross-functional teams and external resources to manage processes related to strategy development and required due diligence.
  • Develops presentation materials regarding opportunities, analysis, and/or recommendations. Leads presentations to leadership.
  • Cultivates a culture of proactive risk and change management.
  • Develops strategic framework for platform analytics and insights that align core platform/product capabilities and services with our Payments processing partners providing data insights/analytics (usage, frequency, quantity, quality, accuracy, value...) that drives platform/product strategy, delivery and operational support decisions.
  • Develop strategic platform road maps for the core transaction processing platforms balancing business product and platform capabilities. Partners with technology to ensure platform strategies align to core principles of resilience and reliability (stability, scalability, security, and simplification/optimized).
  • Collaborate internally within Payments to ensure core platform/product capabilities and services are aligned with and support overall Payments goals. Influences and makes decisions to ensure work is prioritized and completed in the most value-added order. Partners with technology and cross-functional business stakeholders to set, prioritize, and deliver shared business goals. Primary stakeholders within domain areas can span across multiple stakeholder organizations.
  • Leverages trust with peers and partners across multiple functions to ensure continued core platform development with minimal issues. Work with internal and external partners to enhance platform/product capabilities/services, improve the user experience and drive business value for our customers. Cultivate and influence best practices among partners in all aspects of product management. Enhances existing processes and customize where necessary to improve the organization's ability to deliver optimized platform/product roadmaps.
  • Leverages knowledge of the market to proactively identify opportunities. Looks ahead to anticipate changes in marketplace, regulatory, and business needs and incorporate into core platform roadmaps. Evaluate new platform/product opportunities and bring forward proposals to expand capabilities aligned with business strategy. Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to understand business, data, and platform/product needs. Evaluates market and competitive trends and assesses regulatory and compliance impacts on platform/product feature sets and policies.


Qualifications You'll Need
The Basics

  • Bachelors Business Administration and Management, Project Management, Analytics, Finance, Marketing, or related.
  • 8+ years Payment sales or relationship management, financial services industry engagement, product strategy or development, or related
  • In lieu of degree, 10+ years Payment sales or relationship management, financial services industry engagement, product strategy or development, or related.

Compensation:
The base pay for this position generally ranges between $106,000.00 to $178,800.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
