Job Description

The Senior Manager, Business Analytics is a key contributor on the Centralized Operations team, who will focus on:
• Using analytics and reporting to identify areas for improvement in various operations processes, workflows, and KPI’s.
• Ideating, developing, and demonstrating value of new initiatives across centralized and field operations.
• Partnering with other departments within the organization on cross-departmental initiatives, financial and operational reporting, technology enhancements, budgeting, and other support functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following but are not limited to the job specifications contained herein.  Additional duties or job functions that can be performed safely may be required as deemed necessary by supervisory personnel.

  •   Improve data and reporting quality

    • Can create complex financial models and operational reports, primarily in Microsoft Excel and Power BI.

    • Collaborate with the operations reporting team to improve quality of reports and integrity of data.

    • Create and utilize existing reports to present analysis to senior operations leadership.

    • Partner with Data & Analytics to ensure data accuracy and availability.

    • Coordinate with various product owners on technology enhancements. Track progress and provide updates to senior leadership.

  • KPI Improvement and Horizontal Support

    • Conduct detailed analyses to identify underperforming markets on key metrics, with a focus on reducing maintenance and construction costs, developing procurement programs, and improving delinquency, retention, sales conversions, and resident satisfaction.

    • Develop and track KPI’s to measure portfolio health. Collaborate with market and horizontal leaders to improve performance.

    • Present actionable recommendations to senior and horizontal leadership supported by data-driven insights.

    • Partner with regional SVPs to provide the insights necessary to improve performance in KPI’s and meet business plan.

  • Strategic Planning and Initiatives

    • Develop and execute strategic plans to improve performance, with a focus on cost containment and resident experience. Demonstrate value of new initiatives to senior leadership for approval.

    • Lead or support special projects within centralized operations with a goal improving financial performance and resident satisfaction.

    • Monitor and report progress of initiatives.

  • Cross-Department Collaboration

    • Work closely with I.T. department to ensure data accuracy. Suggest and monitor progress on enhancements of Tricon proprietary software.

    • Partner with the financial reporting team to explain monthly, quarterly, and annual variance analyses. Share findings with executive leadership.

    • Support the investment team on JV partner requests, analyses, and insights. Assist in underwriting of large acquisitions.

    • Collaborate with the asset management team on budgeting, reforecasting, and new revenue-generating initiative rollouts.

  • General Responsibilities

    • Perform ad hoc analysis as requested by senior leadership.

    • Create highly professional presentations and visuals. Be comfortable presenting in front of large groups.

    • Mentor analyst team on how to improve data-driven insights.

Qualifications

  • Advanced Excel skills and ability to create robust operational and financial models from scratch

  • Previous real estate experience, particularly in Single-Family Rental

  • Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and highly analytical

  • Looks for creative solutions and works through problems before asking for help

  • Writes clearly and informatively and presents numerical data in an easy to digest format

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree in finance, accounting, real estate, or related field

  • 5+ years of successful experience in an equivalent role

  • Knowledge of budgeting, costing, and reporting systems

  • High level of analytical and problem-solving ability where problems are unusual and complex

  • Experience in financial modeling and data analysis

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience with SQL, Microsoft Power BI, and Yardi

Salary Range

Placement within this compensation range will be determined by the candidate's knowledge, experience and skills.

$109,020.00 - $181,700.00
