The Business Banking (BB) Assurance team is responsible for the creation, execution, and coordination of Line 2 reviews to ensure BB’s key risks and obligations are adequately identified and managed within risk appetite. Line 2 reviews are a key activity to enable Line 2 to independently monitor, challenge and support the business’ performance with respect to the Business’ strategic objectives and the Group’s risk management and compliance frameworks.

Reporting to the Executive Manager, Operational Risk & Compliance Assurance, Business Banking, you will provide meaningful contribution to the planning and delivery of Line 2 reviews and actively participate in Line 2 or Group initiatives to evolve and optimise internal processes.
Assurance through Line 2 reviews is a key mechanism to create a robust evidence base and formulate Line 2’s perspective on the effectiveness of the control environment in managing risks and obligations and the efficacy of risk-reward decisions.
You will work closely with the Business (including Line 1 Risk Management), other Risk and Compliance functions and subject matter experts (Group Assurance, Group OR&C, Market Risk, Credit Risk, Financial Crime, Technology Risk, Compliance).
Your Responsibilities:

Contribute to development and periodic refresh of planned Line 2 reviews, which will require identification of key areas of risk and business priorities which will include engaging Risk and business stakeholders;

Drive & lead the timely execution and completion of Line 2 reviews, ensuring that work is delivered according to scope and appropriate Line 2 methodologies to produce meaningful and impactful outcomes or insights;

Engage stakeholders at all levels, investigate, collate, evaluate and assess evidence to formulate a rational, well-informed independent views or conclusions regarding the effectiveness of risk management activities and implemented practices

Develop data driven, analytical and efficient assessment strategies and approaches used in Line 2 reviews to fulfil scope requirements;

Provide updates and reporting of progress and outcomes from Line 2 reviews in a clear and concise manner, tailored to the relevant audiences; and

Effective and constructive contribution to the BB Operational Risk and Compliance Team and the broader Risk function, with a focus on collaboration and embedding a “One Team” culture across the function.
Skills & Experience:

Demonstrated experience in leading and executing data-driven / analytical-led assurance reviews, particularly gained in a Line 2 or Line 3 / Audit role (ideally 5+ years’ experience);

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence peers, stakeholders and senior management, as well as manage multiple stakeholders and competing demands;

Strong data analysis and data visualisation skills;

Strong report writing and verbal presentation skills;

Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with proficiency in Operational Risk / Compliance Risk and Assurance methodologies and practices;

Knowledge of commercial banking and lending products and distribution channels, commercial acumen and perspective and financial services regulatory landscape.

Strong teamwork focus with excellence in driving results and delivering customer satisfaction.
