Role Overview:

The Senior Machine Learning Researcher is a critical position in the Data Office, responsible for advancing complex AI and ML capabilities across various business areas. The role is geared toward experts who combine strong theoretical knowledge with practical experience in deploying AI models, enabling data-driven decision-making, and driving measurable impact across the organization. This individual will serve as a thought leader in AI, offering technical mentorship, providing peer-reviewed model validation, and ensuring the Data Science and AI (DSAI) team meets the strategic and operational goals of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

Model Development and Innovation

• Independently design, develop, and implement advanced machine learning models that address strategic business needs, leveraging expertise in areas such as natural language processing, computer vision, and generative AI.

• Stay current with the latest AI research and trends, applying new techniques and innovations to create high-impact solutions.

• Contribute to DSAI projects by delivering key artifacts, including project charters, data quality reports, and model documentation, ensuring alignment with best practices and company standards.

Technical Mentorship and Guidance

• Act as a mentor to ML researchers, helping junior team members advance their technical skills and solve complex challenges, fostering a collaborative and learning-oriented team culture.

• Assist in talent acquisition by evaluating candidate proficiency in machine learning, collaborating with the Head of Data Science and AI to ensure that new hires meet the technical and cultural standards of the team.

• Provide peer reviews on ML models, ensuring that each model meets established quality benchmarks, operates within required error bounds, and aligns with stakeholder needs.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

• Collaborate closely with internal business stakeholders to understand AI/ML needs, ensuring models are designed and developed to address specific customer and stakeholder requirements.

• Communicate the value and insights of AI/ML solutions to stakeholders, translating complex technical results into actionable recommendations and demonstrating the financial impact of AI-driven improvements.

• Engage with external business partners as necessary to gather insights and understand potential cross-organizational impacts and opportunities for AI solutions.

Process Improvement and Efficiency

• Play a pivotal role in refining and optimizing internal AI/ML processes to increase operational efficiencies and reduce time to deployment.

• Champion the implementation of advanced AI methodologies that streamline business processes, using data to identify and eliminate inefficiencies.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

• A Master’s or Ph.D. degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering) with a strong foundation in machine learning and AI.

• Proven experience delivering high-impact AI/ML solutions, with a robust portfolio showcasing applications such as recommender systems, graph algorithms, NLP, and reinforcement learning.

• Publication in recognized AI research journals or conferences is highly desirable, reflecting expertise in at least one advanced AI research domain.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in AI/ML programming languages and frameworks (e.g., Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch).

• Deep understanding of core AI/ML algorithms, model evaluation techniques, and data processing methodologies.

• Expertise in at least one AI domain, with the ability to adapt and innovate across various business use cases.
