Job Description

Job Summary:

The Senior Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing and directing logistics activities at a corporate level. This includes planning, coordinating, and executing logistics strategies to ensure timely and efficient support for defense programs. The role involves collaborating with various teams to develop strategic comprehensive logistics plans, compliance, cost savings, solving logistics problems, and providing expert inputs to support the U.S. divisions.


Responsibilities and Tasks in order of priority to be successful:

  • Establish strong and collaborative relationships with divisional program managers, buyers, and shipping/receiving teams to effectively implement and carry out corporate logistics strategy
  • Develop and maintain corporate policies and procedures as they flow to the divisional logistics operations
  • Establishing Carrier/Freight forwarder relationship management processes and continuous improvement goals/programs resolve problems or complaints
  • Negotiating contracts and coordinating 3PL, express courier, and freight forwarder integration plans with internal clients
  • Partner with Data2Logistics to maintain metrics, analyze data and drive cost improvements
  • Monitoring market dynamics that impact logistics availability and/or pricing
  • Partnering with internal clients to identify logistics sourcing needs, develop buyer/market profiles, identify marketplace trends, and define acceptable service levels
  • Partner with internal and affiliate import/export compliance teams to manage, mitigate, and/or appropriately track/allocate international shipping and EXIM duties, tariffs, and fees
  • Provide direct support to divisions related to material and finished goods transportation ensuring compliance, program performance, and cost responsible methods

Qualifications

Education, Experience & License or Certification

  • Experience with large scale 3PL contracts and optimizing logistics networks.
  • Experience handling shipments of sensitive and complex items, such as classified goods and heavy payloads.
  • Experience with hazardous materials regulations, OSHA, and DoT rules and regulations
  • Ensure compliance with domestic and international regulations, including ITAR, DFAR, EAR, and other applicable defense related export controls.
  • Develop corporate strategies for freight cost saving measures
  • Develop and maintain corporate policies and procedures and partner with divisional logistics operations to ensure compliance
  • Establishing freight relationship management processes and resolve problems or complaints.
  • Negotiating contracts and coordinating 2PL & 3PL integration plans with internal clients
  • Partner with Data2Logistics to maintain metrics, analyze data and drive cost improvements
  • Identify potential supply chain risks related to freight operations and develop mitigation plans
  • Partnering with internal and affiliate import/export compliance teams to manage, mitigate, and/or appropriately track/allocate international shipping and EXIM duties, tariffs, and fees.
  • Provide direct support to divisions related to material and finished goods transportation ensuring compliance, program performance, and cost responsible methods
  • Partner with sites to develop annual freight spend plans
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present to data and operational plans to leadership

Travel/Physical Requirements

  • May require some travel
  • Work is usually conducted in an office or warehouse (when visiting sites to work with the warehouse teams)
