As the Senior Linux Systems Administrator, you will design, deploy, and maintain IT infrastructure across all operational areas of the firm. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Linux environments, scripting, automation, and troubleshooting complex system issues. You will play a key role in maintaining system uptime, implementing security best practices, optimizing performance, and supporting a growing, dynamic team of software, research, and systems engineers.

We seek to hire someone in the following locations: Sacramento, Berkeley, or New York City.
Responsibilities
- Build out automated, highly available, and scalable infrastructure
- Help define and refine our growing compute and storage infrastructure
- Deploy and maintain storage nodes and monitoring
- Participate in an on-call rotation after building context on our systems and operations
Requirements
- At least five years of professional Linux experience with increasing responsibility and scope of work
- Experience with HPC clusters
- Experience with building and troubleshooting Distributed File Systems (e.g., Ceph, NFS)
- Knowledge of monitoring tools (Nagios, Check_MK, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)
- Understanding of network and OS security
- Exposure to virtualization and containerization (KVM, ESXI, Docker, podman, LXC)
- Experience with high-speed (at least 10Gb) host networking
- Demonstrated scripting abilities (Python and/or Bash preferred)
- Proficiency with Ansible or other Configuration Management tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with general configuration-automation, CI/CD, and deployment tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, or similar.
- Hands-on experience with OpenStack deployment, administration, and troubleshooting
- Experience with high-performance compute clusters
- PostgreSQL DBA experience
- Experience with cluster management frameworks (OpenShift, LVS), centralized authorization and domain management (LDAP / AD / IPA), and RHEL
- Experience with BSD-based firewalls
Compensation
The base salary for this position is $170,000 to $205,000 in the location(s) of this posting. Individual salaries are determined through a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. Base salary does not include other forms of total compensation, such as bonus compensation and other benefits. Our benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, life and AD&D insurance, 20 days of paid time off, 9 sick days, and a 401(k) plan with a company match.
