Job Description


We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Legal Operations Manager to join our dynamic legal team. This individual will play a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of our legal department by implementing innovative processes, managing resources, and fostering collaboration across teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal operations, project management, and technology implementation, with a focus on driving organizational success.


Key Responsibilities

Operational Efficiency

  • Develop, implement, and optimize workflows, processes, and systems to improve the legal department’s operational performance.
  • Identify and implement best practices to help the legal and business teams to enhance team productivity.

Technology & Tools Management:

  • Evaluate, implement, and manage legal technology tools, including contract management systems, AI contract redlining technologies, e-billing platforms, and document management systems.
  • Provide training and ongoing support to legal and business teams to ensure seamless adoption of new tools.

Budgeting & Financial Management:

  • Oversee the legal department’s budget, including forecasting, expense tracking, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with finance teams to manage outside counsel and vendor spend, ensuring cost-effectiveness.

Project Management:

  • Lead cross-functional projects and initiatives within the legal department, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Maintain a roadmap for key legal initiatives and ensure resource allocation aligns with priorities.

Vendor & Outside Counsel Management:

  • Manage relationships with external legal service providers and negotiate favorable terms.
  • Monitor vendor performance and ensure compliance with service-level agreements.

Data Management & Reporting:

  • Develop and track metrics and KPIs to measure legal department performance and inform decision-making.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management.

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate operational risks.

Team Support & Development:

  • Act as a liaison between the legal department and other business units to improve communication and collaboration.
  • Support training and development initiatives within the legal team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, law, or a related field; advanced degree or certification in legal operations, project management, or related disciplines is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in legal operations, project management, or a similar role, preferably within a corporate legal environment.
  • Strong understanding of legal processes, technology tools, and systems (e.g., CLM, e-billing, matter management, contract redlining process, etc.).
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience managing budgets, vendors, and cross-functional projects.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
  • Positive outlook, commercial mindset, and the ability to analyze & resolve complex issues into easy to understand solutions.
