SENIOR LEGAL COUNSEL - Responsible for Luxembourg and Belgium Activities

You will be leading the Luxembourg and Belgium legal activities for the Bank, report to the Head of Legal Europe and work in a muti cultural and multilingual legal team of 5 persons in Luxembourg responsible for  European Activities in Spain, UK, Italy and France.

YOUR ROLE

  • Provide expert Legal advice on banking and investment activities and be in charge of contractual documentation for the activities of the Head Office in Luxembourg and the Belgium branch and Luxembourg Offices;
  • Provide support on the European coordination on legal matters and regulations in particular for matters relating to legislation concerning banking and financial activities;
  • Legal support for EU Regulatory projects;
  • Create or review Client Documentation and banking Contracts in coordination with the other members of the legal team;
  • Provide and interpret legal information, conduct training and disseminate appropriate legal requirements to staff;
  • Legal support for complaints of clients and litigation (review progress of outstanding litigation, liaise with and manage external lawyers, and advise management accordingly);
  • Legal support for miscellaneous internal projects developing LOESA;
  • Provide legal support for credit operations and transactions, including drafting and reviewing credit agreements and collateral management;
  • Assist private bankers in understanding legal and regulatory obligations when establishing client agreements.

YOUR PROFILE

  • A Master’s degree in Law, specializing in Banking, Financial Law with relevant working experience of 7-10 years in Belgium or in Luxembourg covering the Luxembourgish and Belgium markets in the financial field;
  • Excellent knowledge of Belgium and Luxembourg Law with a thorough understanding of European banking law;
  • A thorough understanding of MIFID II and other European banking Law;
  • A good understanding of French, UK, Spain and or Italian Law is a plus.
  • Hands-on approach & client oriented, excellent responsiveness and result-oriented;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communications skills;
  • Flexible, adaptable, polyvalent & excellent organizational skills are essential.
  • French, English mother tongue or excellent knowledge;
  • Flemish, Italian, Spanish is a plus.
