Job Title: Senior Legal Counsel / Director APAC

Position Summary: responsible to lead the Legal service to the APAC commercial region, served through a combination of direct offices – main ones in Japan, Australia, Singapore and India - and a sales distribution network.
Primary responsibilities of the role include:
- Be the Legal partner of reference for the managements team of the assigned region, understand and address local business risks and needs, in view of accomplishing corporate goals, strategies, and priorities across the region.
- Sit as Legal member of the project team working on distributor lifecycle management system project in the region
- Lead creation and negotiation of commercial agreements such as distribution, supply, tenders, service, consultancy and other interactions with healthcare professionals/ sponsorships/NDAs etc., providing solution-oriented advice.
- Advice on local regulation aspects, including data privacy, labour law and medical device registration issues, in coordination with local external counsels/corporate Data Protection team, and other company’s functions as needed
- In coordination with Compliance corporate team, secure deployment of group compliance program and alignment with industry codes of practice. Assess local business legal risks and implement mitigating measures.
- Advice on assessment and implementation of new business opportunities, while securing compliance with applicable rules and regulations
Experience and Skills required
- Law Degree
- 10-15 years PQE in in-house role or in corporate/commercial department of an international and reputable law firm. Previous experience in the healthcare industry will be considered a plus.
- Highly motivated, client-focused, pragmatic attitude, accountability, hardworking
- Ability to work under pressure and to prioritize assignments
- Good oral and written communication skills. Capacity to establish and maintain good working relationship with culturally diverse teams and different functions in the corporate organization
- Good analytic skills and attention to details
- English mother tongue or excellent level of written and spoken English. Knowledge of other languages such as Mandarin or Japanese would be considered a plus.
Location: Singapore with availability to travel on request.
