1) Should be able to take requirements and independently code working solutions in a modern structured programming language ( Java + Python experience preferred, but evidence of good ability in other languages is acceptable)
2) Should be willing to learn at the intersection of Information security and Application Design.
3) Should demonstrate strong Intellectual Curiosity, willingness to learn and be self-motivated.
4) Should effectively communicate daily progress to functional leaders and seek feedback.
5) Should demonstrate ability to multi task and help streamline every workstream he/she is part of.
Key Responsibilities
Planning:
- Work in partnership with the functional leaders to fully understand goals and requirements and use this knowledge to effectively plan and execute the development process.
- Actively research ways to solve complex problems.
Design & Build:
- Create low level design (including code samples/outlines) based on complex business, user and non-functional (e.g., Application security) requirements.
- Write code, adhering to coding standards, procedures, and techniques.
- Maintain integrity of existing program logic according to specifications.
Document:
- Create and properly archive all project / technical documentation.
Test & Execute:
- Unit test all code and programs prior to deploying them to prod.
- Quickly resolve all unit test issues.
Asset Stewardship & Troubleshooting:
- Improve the health of system assets by identifying enhancements to improve performance, reliability, and resource consumption.
Maintain Skill Set & Relationships
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge (Application and Information Security) and technical skills in software development technologies.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with functional leaders and project teams.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
- 4-7 years of relevant experience
- Experience coding and/or designing on Java and/or Python.
- Experience in debugging issues in code.
- Expertise in solving real engineering problems.
- Proven ability to successfully translate business needs into software designs.
- Individual contributor with strong communication skills.
- Proven ability to build relationship and collaborate with teams across organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with tools such as Blackduck, Sonarqube etc..
- Hands-on experience in building tools which help solve engineering problems.
- Understand and apply both current technical solution elements (specific tools, components, and frameworks) and abstract elements (algorithms and architectures).
- Effectively apply technology/engineering knowledge-base to multiple and evolving programs.
