Senior iOS Software Engineer, Food & Beverage

Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions - to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.
Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes - large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. The Role
We're looking for iOS engineers to join our growing team! As an iOS engineer on the Food & Beverage Mobile team, you'll be an owner of our flagship product, the Restaurants Point of Sale. You'll build product features that make complex restaurant workflows simple and efficient, as well as iterate on and maintain our app as we scale. You'll collaborate with engineers across mobile platforms to promote ease of development between Android and iOS, and work in close partnership with our product manager and designers throughout the product lifecycle.
You Will

• Build and maintain an app that empowers thousands of people to run their business in the fast-paced, competitive food and drink industry
• Lead complex cross-functional initiatives, often across team boundaries
• Collaborate closely with designers, product managers, and other engineers
• Ship reliable software through continuous integration, test automation, and in-depth code reviews
• Grow as an engineer, and as you do, you'll lift others around you

You Have

• Motivation to build beautiful, intuitive products for the food and drink hospitality industry
• Experience developing, shipping, and maintaining iOS applications
• Ability to mentor other engineers and help teams level up
• Empathy for your customers and colleagues
• Eagerness to share your own ideas, and openness to those of others
• 8+ years experience in software development

• Swift, Objective-C, Kotlin (yes! - we collaborate directly with our friends on Android)
• Reactive Swift, UIKit, CoreAnimation, and CoreData
• Unit tests, snapshot tests, integration tests
• Service APIs and Protocol Buffers
• Metrics, monitoring and alerting with a variety of internal and external tools

The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
