The Checkout Applet Mobile team serves new and existing users of the Square Point of Sale (SPOS) engine. Our mission is to refine the cart-building flows to guarantee a seamless and powerful experience for our merchants. The team owns the Checkout applet, which is the most frequently used and critical surface area in our POS apps, allowing sellers to create orders and start the payment flow for them.
You Will

• Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of critical features within the checkout applet including building new features and updating existing critical features including item configuration screen, item search etc.
• Improve the Android codebase to support onboarding workflows and diverse checkout needs within a single POS engine.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers across teams to deliver high-quality, scalable features.
• Lead efforts to converge the checkout applet across different engines, streamlining technical and product solutions.
• Provide technical mentorship and guidance to engineers, encouraging a culture of learning and new ideas.

You Have

• 12+ years of Android development experience with expertise in Kotlin or Java.
• Experience architecting and leading complex Android projects at scale and cross team boundaries, all while

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. Canada locations are categorized into one of two zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
