JOB TITLE: Senior Infrastructure Specialist – z Storage
SALARY: £70,929 - £78,810
LOCATION(S): Manchester or Leeds. Please note, the selected candidate needs to be at the Halifax office 1 day weekly throughout the early stages of onboarding, this is where key z Storage Engineers are based.
HOURS: Full time - Please note that this role will require you to be on call outside of normal working hours on a rota system.
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our locations.
About this Opportunity:
We’re the z Storage Team within z Mainframe Lab, responsible for running the mainframe storage estate (software and hardware) for the whole of Lloyds Banking Group. Our mission is to ensure the data within our mainframe systems is available for the right purpose, with the appropriate confidentiality and always ensuring an excellent engineering experience, performance, resilience and integrity.
The z Mainframe Lab is made up of over 100 highly skilled and specialised colleagues. The systems we support underpin almost everything we do as Lloyds Banking Group.
As a z Storage Senior Infrastructure Specialist, you will function as technical authority for this area. This is a hands-on role where you will configure and maintain products and services according to Group standards and policies (and to agreed service levels) and will assist with the delivery of changes within the teams' focus – this includes operational support 24/7. Additionally, you will provide technical support (including incident and problem resolution) for systems and processes in complex environments using site reliability engineering (SRE) principles.
Key responsibilities

Support and implement changes to the z Storage estate within LBG as required.

Resolution of incidents and problems across the LBG estate in line with LBG KPI’s.

Assist the z Storage team in war room/conference calls with incident management and technical teams to restore service.

Work effectively with the wider z Storage team to ensure smooth transition of changes into live service.

Provide consultancy skills to application teams as required.

Maintain service stability and optimisation.

Help drive the strategy and design across the estate.

Collaborate with key stakeholders, drive and deliver against the technology roadmap.

Implement standardisation and assist with improvement initiatives in the team.

What you’ll need
-
Experience in a similar role providing Mainframe Storage support
-
Expertise in z Mainframe Storage software, e.g. DFSMS, DFHSM, DFRMM and related utilities

Expertise in Job Control Language (JCL)
-
Knowledge of IBM Storage Hardware, e.g. DS8000 Disk, VTS, ATL, SAN
-
Experience handling incidents & problem solving, plus handling change requests

Experience with handling ICF Catalogs
It would be great if you also had

Any experience of storage performance & capacity management & experience of Dell Storage Hardware.
