Newsweek is seeking a highly creative, concept-driven Illustrator to join our in-house team. • Develop a consistent visual language in line with Newsweek’s evolving editorial voice.
  • Collaborate closely with the art director, photo team and editorial staff from ideation to final execution.
  • Work across a variety of media, including photographic collage, digital painting, 3D renderings, and mixed media.
  • Maintain high standards of production quality, detail, and originality across all projects.
  • Manage multiple assignments and meet tight weekly and monthly deadlines.
  • Adapt and evolve artwork for use in motion graphics, video treatments, online storytelling, and social media campaigns.

Qualifications:

  • 3–5+ years of experience creating editorial illustrations, photo-illustrations, or concept-driven visual artwork.
  • A portfolio showcasing original, conceptual illustration work, ideally in photographic or CGI styles.
  • Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator); experience with 3D software (ZBrush, Maya, Cinema4D, Blender, etc.) is a strong plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of rendering techniques, lighting, shading, and texturing in 3D environments.
  • Deep understanding of composition, visual metaphor, color, and storytelling.
  • Ability to respond quickly to briefs and turn around high-quality visuals under tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with print and digital editorial workflows.
  • Strong communication skills and openness to feedback and collaboration.
  • A passion for current affairs, pop culture, and provocative editorial storytelling.
  • Excellent written and spoken English; flexibility in working hours.

  • Familiarity with AI graphic design tools, such as Runway, Firefly, etc.
  • Experience with and understanding of motion graphics and animation
