Job Description

Position Overview

As a Senior HR Generalist at Invenergy, you will support our employees in Canada in all areas of Human Resources, including policy development, performance management, employment law compliance, employee relations, and department development, with a specific focus on aligning practices to Canadian regulations and market trends. This position is based in our Chicago, IL office.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between management and employees by handling questions and interpreting and administering policies.

  • Assist with the development and administration of programs, procedures, and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the company.

  • Develop and implement human resource policies and procedures, including maintaining employee handbooks and ensuring alignment with Canadian employment standards. Provide recommendations for policy or procedure updates as necessary.

  • Maintain compliance with federal, provincial, and local employment laws in Canada, keeping the HR team informed of any changes.

  • Analyze and evaluate the impact of proposed legislation and rule changes in Canada; propose policy or procedural changes as necessary.

  • Provide guidance and counsel to managers on human resources and employment issues specific to the Canadian market.

  • Conduct investigations into employee, customer, and vendor complaints, including but not limited to harassment, discrimination, and violations of company policies.

  • Collaborate on cross-training initiatives with immigration and global mobility to strengthen team expertise and capabilities.

  • Support the implementation and execution of global HR programs and projects to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience as an HR Generalist or Business Partner.

  • Strong working knowledge of Canadian employment laws and practices.

  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.

  • Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.

  • Proficiency using HRIS systems and Microsoft suite.

  • Ability to travel up to 15%.

  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Workday

  • Proficiency in French

Base Pay

92,000.00 - 115,000.00 USD Annual

Bonus: 20 - 30%

The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers a number of factors when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education and skills.

 

In addition to base pay, the total annual compensation package may also include eligibility to participate in our bonus program(s) which are designed to reward individual and company performance. Your recruiter can share more about bonus eligibility for this position during the hiring process.
