Who We're Looking For
We seek a Senior HPC Administrator to join our team, managing Azure GovCloud environments while ensuring security and compliance. The ideal candidate excels in Linux administration, scripting, and cloud-native technologies, with expertise in networking, storage, and job scheduling. Strong communication, problem-solving skills, and a consultant mindset are essential to advancing secure cloud-based HPC solutions and driving team success.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage and administer Azure GovCloud-based HPC solutions, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and security best practices.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain Azure Virtual Machines (VMs), Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), and containerized HPC workloads within GovCloud environments.
- Design, implement, and optimize Azure GovCloud HPC environments, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
- Utilize Azure Storage solutions such as Azure NetApp Files, Azure Blob Storage, and Lustre file systems for secure and efficient data management.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Bicep, and ARM templates to meet GovCloud compliance standards.
- Manage job schedulers (Slurm, PBS, or Azure Batch) and optimize workloads for high performance and cost efficiency.
- Implement security best practices for GovCloud-based HPC environments, ensuring compliance with government cybersecurity frameworks.
- Utilize Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights for performance tuning and troubleshooting in a secure setting.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to support cloud-based HPC workflows and software applications within the GovCloud ecosystem.
- Support hybrid HPC environments, integrating on-premises clusters with Azure GovCloud resources.
- Maintain Linux-based clusters in Azure GovCloud and ensure seamless integration with existing HPC workflows.
- Work with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes for managing scalable, compliant HPC workloads.
- Assist in networking configuration, including InfiniBand, RDMA, and high-speed interconnects within GovCloud environments.
Some Must-Haves
- 7+ years of experience with Linux administration (RHEL, Ubuntu, or CentOS preferred).
- Experience with Azure GovCloud HPC services, including Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Batch, and hybrid cloud solutions.
- Strong scripting skills with Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
- Experience with storage administration, particularly in Azure NetApp Files, Lustre, and Blob Storage within GovCloud.
- Proficiency in job scheduling tools such as Slurm, PBS, or Azure Batch.
- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Azure Kubernetes Service - AKS).
- Familiarity with high-speed networking technologies (RDMA, InfiniBand, and low-latency interconnects) in GovCloud.
- Experience managing hybrid HPC environments with on-premises and Azure GovCloud-based clusters.
- Basic web knowledge (HTTP, XML, REST APIs for Azure services).
- Strong understanding of GovCloud security best practices and compliance frameworks.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.

Other Information
The work hours will be approximately 8:00 am to 5:00 pm EST, depending on workload, with the occasional late night when a tight deadline calls for it. We work for security-conscious clients, thus background checks will be required. Salary dependent upon experience.
Compensation Package (Salary Transparency For US Based Employees)
- Salary Range: $100,000 - $130,000+
- Salary is negotiable and the range can be increased based on qualifications, certifications and experience
