RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, and validate GNC algorithms and systems for spacecraft operating in LEO, GEO, and Cislunar environments
- Design & analysis of spacecraft attitude determination & control systems
- Conduct trade studies and ultimately recommend design decisions regarding Attitude Determination and Control Subsystem (ADCS) components such as reaction wheels, torque rods, thrusters, star trackers, sun sensors, and rate sensors
- Utilize and improve upon high fidelity, six degree of freedom simulations to aide in performance prediction & hardware in the loop simulations
- Utilize and improve upon Matlab based frequency domain controls analysis tools to ensure stability and performance margins
- Develop & write ADCS Flight Software (FSW) algorithms in C++, including relevant ADCS algorithms pertinent to fault management
- Perform various first principles derived analyses
- Interact and collaborate with engineers from various disciplines
- Own all aspects of ADCS system development, from algorithms to overall vehicle design
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering or equivalent discipline
- Experienced with Matlab, Simulink, and C++
- 6+ years experience developing and/or producing GNC systems for space applications
- Extensive understanding of spacecraft GNC architecture
- Extensive understanding of GPS, Gyro’s, Star Trackers, Thrusters, CSS’s
- Experience with control structure interaction, orbital maneuvering, filtering, state estimation, fault management, and software development
- Strong understanding of physics, attitude dynamics, orbital mechanics, and software development
- Cradle to grave development of three axis stabilized spacecraft incorporating momentum, magnetic, and propulsive control
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with little input on requirements or management oversight
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Familiarity with orbit determination and trajectory design for cislunar or interplanetary missions
- Familiarity with mission-specific challenges, such as lunar gravity assists, libration point orbits, and deep-space navigation
- Master’s degree in aerospace engineering or equivalent discipline
- Experienced with Matlab, Simulink, Python, and C++
- 10+ years experience developing and/or producing GNC systems for space applications
- Line of sight performance analysis such as jitter, smear, and pointing accuracy
- Capable of identifying and solving complex problems with little to no supervision or direction
COMPENSATION
- California Base Salary: $135,000-180,000
- Colorado Base Salary: $125,000-175,000
- Equity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO and paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, location, and experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to maintain or obtain TS//SCI clearance.
- Work Location—this role is mostly remote, but we prefer candidates located in the Denver or Los Angeles areas to facilitate occasional in-person meetings or collaboration as needed.
- Work environment—the work environment; temperature, noise level, inside or outside, or other factors that will affect the person's working conditions while performing the job.
- Physical demands—the physical demands of the job, including bending, sitting, lifting and driving.
