What You'll Do

We are looking for a Senior Gameplay Systems Programmer passionate about strengthening the foundation of gameplay abilities in Unreal. You will be working with others to enhance the networking layer upon which gameplay abilities are built as well as how they interact with various other engine systems. As a member of the Gameplay Systems team you’ll be responsible for architecting and maintaining gameplay systems, APIs, and features within Unreal Engine that allow our licensees to build the next generation of amazing gameplay experiences.

In This Role You Will

  • Improve and maintain the underlying networking foundation of the Gameplay Ability System to provide a more reliable and feature rich experience
  • Provide guidance and share knowledge with other teams about how to best solve problems
  • Improve existing systems to be more performant, scalable, and stable.
  • Build and maintain bridges with other teams within the Engine group to help drive and maintain vision
  • Diagnose cpu and network performance issues to unlock the full potential of the engine for licensees
  • Look for ways to push the technology forward in new and innovative ways

What We're Looking For

  • Strong C++ skills and programming principles knowledge
  • Strong understanding of networked game principles 
  • Adjacent experience in one or more of the following areas: AI, input, animation, or physics
  • Talent for building robust, extensible, maintainable systems
  • Experience developing AAA games or game engine technology professionally
  • Self-motivated, strong work ethic, and able to work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate fluently in English (written and verbal)
  • You’re user-focused, passionate, solutions-focused, and innovative. These traits equal success at Epic and influence everything we do

This role is open to multiple locations in North America (including CA & WA).

Pay Transparency Information

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).

California Base Pay Range

$215,921$316,683 USD

Washington Base Pay Range

$202,965$297,682 USD
