Updater, Inc. is looking for a seasoned Fullstack Engineer with a strong background in Ruby and/or Python to join our dynamic MoveHQ division. In this crucial role, you will enhance both the frontend and backend of MoveHQ’s move management platform. Your contributions will directly impact the platform's robustness, scalability, and functionality while promoting a culture of excellence and collaboration within the MoveHQ engineering team.
About the Role
- Lead Development of New Features: Spearhead the design, development, and integration of new platform capabilities and product features, focusing on leveraging Ruby and Python to enhance backend functionalities and support frontend integrations.
- Optimize Platform Performance: Work collaboratively with your team to boost the platform's overall software quality, reliability, and performance standards.
- Technical Project Leadership: Act as a senior technical member of the team, guiding the implementation of complex projects within the MoveHQ product roadmap and ensuring compliance with our high standards for security, quality, and performance.
- Mentor and Develop Talent: Raise the technical proficiency of the engineering team by mentoring less experienced engineers, promoting best practices in Ruby, Python, and fullstack development.
- Enhance CI/CD Processes: Oversee and refine the continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines for team-managed applications, facilitating seamless, agile deployment processes.
About You
- Skilled Fullstack Developer: You have 5+ years of web development experience, with substantial expertise in Ruby and Python. Experience with front-end technologies is also expected.
- Proven Delivery of SaaS Products: Demonstrated ability to develop and ship robust, scalable, and high-performance software-as-a-service solutions.
- Experienced in Technical Leadership: Previously held senior roles in fast-paced, collaborative environments, preferably within startup settings.
- Database Expertise: Strong experience with relational databases and ORM frameworks, capable of designing efficient data interactions.
- Proficiency in Testing and Automation: Well-versed in modern testing frameworks and committed to high-quality software solutions through rigorous testing and automation.
- Agile Development Expertise: Deep familiarity with agile methodologies, using tools such as Scrum and Jira to manage development processes.
- CI/CD Skills: Proficient with tools and practices for continuous integration and delivery, such as Jenkins, CircleCI, or GitHub Actions.
- Excellent Communicator: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear technical documentation and collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- Experience in Regulated Environments: (Optional) Experience developing software for government or compliance-heavy industries is a plus.

- A proactive problem solver who can tackle complex challenges and drive solutions through the entire stack.
- Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively in a distributed team environment.
This posting is anticipated to remain open until November 20th, 2024. The new hire salary range for this position is $90,000 to $190,000 annually. Factors which may affect the starting pay within this range include skills, experience, and other qualifications aligned with Updater's internal leveling guidelines.
