As a Senior Frontend Engineer at RunPod, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and optimizing user interfaces for our platform. You’ll collaborate closely with Product Managers and Designers to create intuitive, efficient, and visually appealing experiences for our users. You’ll also tackle advanced technical challenges that will define our direction towards modern best practices in building customer-facing products.

Responsibilities:

  • Write clean, maintainable, and scalable code with a strong focus on TypeScript best practices.
  • Build, optimize, and maintain responsive user interfaces using React and Next.js on Vercel.
  • Focus on browser performance, with an emphasis on memory management, and efficient CPU utilization.
  • Redefine our existing codebase to leverage modern best practices in state management, component communication, and UI styling.
  • Expand and standardize our tests in a TDD approach to increase our test coverage.
  • Work closely with Product Managers and Designers to turn feature requirements and user feedback into polished, functional interfaces.
  • Troubleshoot complex frontend issues and implement solutions that scale effectively.
  • Provide insights and recommendations on design and functionality based on technical feasibility and user experience considerations.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of professional experience in frontend development, with significant time spent working on React, Next.js, or similar JavaScript
  • Proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript (deep understanding of its features, capabilities, and best practices). Some experience with Python and GoLang would be a plus.
  • Proven experience optimizing web applications for browser performance.
  • Strong grasp of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frontend patterns.
  • Experience working directly with Product Managers and Designers, with strong communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical discussions.
  • Methodical approach to identifying performance bottlenecks and implementing efficient solutions.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts and collaborate with other developers and non-technical team members.

Preferred:

  • Experience deploying and optimizing applications on Vercel
  • Experience in UI state management using Redux, Recoil, Mobx, or similar libraries.
  • Knowledge of performance monitoring and debugging tools like Lighthouse, Chrome DevTools, or similar.
  • Understanding of best practices for UX and accessibility in modern web applications.
  • Experience working with or integrating GraphQL and REST API in a frontend application.
  • Prior experience with streaming features or real-time data handling in web applications.
  • Prior projects to showcase experience.
  • Experience with Git and version control workflows.
