About the Team:

The Strategic Planning and Initiatives Finance team provides the organization with advanced financial analytics and insights that are used by firm leadership to make informed strategic and financial business decisions. The team helps to drive financial modernization and process improvements and is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and other ad-hoc reporting. 

Purpose of the Role:

We are looking for a Senior FP&A Analyst who will provide essential support to the Business Partner by assisting in all budgetary activity, short and longer range planning, and forecasting, preparing and analyzing financial metrics and trends, identifying opportunities for operational efficiencies and cost savings, as well as assisting in the identification of financial risks and opportunities through data analysis.  

In this role, you will report to the Director, Strategic Planning and Initiatives and work closely with budget leads across the firm to prepare the forecast and budget. You will also help to prepare our reporting to various audiences (budget leads, Senior Leadership, and the Board). You will work with our BIAs to validate data to create visualizations to effectively communicate findings to the organization. You may also be required to assist in the larger Finance team’s efforts to modernize the group’s systems, as they have a direct impact on the work our team does. 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Preparing budget, forecast and ad-hoc requests for review by manager.  
  • Coordinating with various departments to gather inputs for forecast/budget estimates. 
  • Preparing reports ad-hoc for budget leads to help with budgeting and forecasting estimates. 
  • Preparing initial analysis of differences between actual financial results and budgeted or forecasted figures. 
  • Helping to respond to any questions or ad-hoc requests budget leads may have throughout the year regarding their specific budgets or actual spend in comparison to their budget. 
  • Helping to prepare dashboard visualizations for senior leadership by assisting the BIAs in validating and reviewing data. 
  • Continuous process improvement to reduce cycle times and supporting the modernization of the Finance systems. 
  • Fostering collaboration within the team and with other teams. 

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting and 3-5 years of work experience in a Finance/FP&A role; CPA is preferable. 
  • Workday Finance and Workday Adaptive Planning experience (including OfficeConnect) would be highly beneficial. 
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing, high-growth environment. 
  • Experience in financial planning and analysis, with proficiency in financial modelling and data analysis tools. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to articulate concepts and provide insight from analysis, forecasting trends, KPIs, their impact and potential opportunity. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with superior attention. 
  • Highly collaborative and team focused, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a dynamic team.  
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills. 

Compensation & Benefits Package:

This position comes with a base salary range of $90,000 - $110,000 plus a competitive performance bonus, RRSP contribution and participation in our profit-sharing program. Base salary will be commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications.
