The Senior Financial Analyst, is responsible for assisting with the regional, consolidated financial budgets and forecasts for assigned departments(s). This person also assists with the distribution of monthly reports to senior management highlighting and reporting on variances from the budget and prior forecast.
The Senior Financial Analyst, works closely with the corporate accounting organisation to ensure proper expense recognition and compliance with internal controls.Job Description:
Responsibilities of the role include:
- Oversees the preparation of the annual, regional commercial consolidated budget for assigned departments(s). This may include oversight for the entry/on-going maintenance of assigned department (s) budgets within the company’s budgeting system.
- Provides support to budget owners on annual budget(s) and long-range forecasts processes. Provides periodic budget forecast updates.
- Supports FP&A Lead and business key stakeholders in other activities as assigned. This may include participation in Request for Proposal (RFP) processes and/or contract negotiations with external, service providers.
- May interact with external service providers to ensure proper invoicing, expense recognition or other finance-related activities.
- Prepares and distributes Budget Variance Analysis (BVA) reports and performs analysis of current vs. annual plans.
- Maintains close communication with financial leaders at the business unit and functional level to ensure timely understanding of risk factors that may impact forecasts.
- Develops and builds expense tracking models supporting assigned department(s) and also drives month end accrual process.
- Performs analysis of large amounts of data to understand the ‘story behind the numbers.
- Maintains standard reporting tools to help identify key risks and opportunities.
- May participate in finance system optimisation to streamline data gathering processes for reporting accuracy and efficiency.
- Supports financial and business controls and standards including SOX requirements.
- Prepares applicable management reporting, KPI and audit schedules as necessary.
- Performs other tasks and assignments as needed and specified by management. This may include special projects/ad hoc financial analyses as necessary.
Requirements for the role include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting and a minimum of 3 years of relevant financial planning and analysis experience, preferably within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology or related environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of the budgeting process.
- Demonstrated experience performing modelling, forecasting and budgeting-related financial activities.
- Solid accounting and financial reporting experience in an operational environment.
- Demonstrated ability to approach and influence
