Life Unlimited. At Smith+Nephew we design and manufacture technology that takes the limits off living.
Smith+Nephew is hiring Senior Finance Analyst.
The FP&A Centre of Excellence (COE) exists to deliver quality insights and performance management that help Smith & Nephew deliver the Life Unlimited purpose to our stakeholders. The Centre of Excellence was created as a world-class, integrated FP&A organisation. We act as one awesome, collaborative team proud to partner with the business and run efficient processes with effective tools.
We support multiple functions and businesses and offer a range of career paths through the team and wider organization
What you will be doing?
Within the COE, the FP&A Analyst for Functions is part of the Global Functions FP&A team and is responsible for providing high-quality decision support and insights to senior leadership across the Finance function.
Your work will help steer functional activities, functional strategy, people allocation, and operational improvements. In this team, we have a combination of roles: some work collaboratively to support larger functions such as IT, while others are independent and highly accountable, supporting smaller functions. The incumbent acts as the key business partner and support to functional leaders—either directly interfacing with roles such as the CFO or, in the case of IT, supporting the CIO’s Leadership Team.
These positions cover accountability for all core FP&A activities for the relevant function, including delivering the annual budget, forecasts, and appraisal cycles. You will work closely with other functions' teams to drive the cross-functional improvement agenda. Beyond the direct team, the role also requires close collaboration with Controllers and GBS to ensure end-to-end finance delivery to functional management. As the primary finance focal point, you must be able to move seamlessly between business partnering, detailed analysis, budget building, and operational systems delivery/month-end close.
In this role, you will deliver analysis of operating costs (both people and non-people), and build forecasts and budgets based on best estimates. You will support senior leadership in decision-making processes focused on building an efficient workforce. You will also manage the month-end process, ensuring accurate postings and providing explanations for deviations from budget or forecast.
What will you need to be successful?
-
At least 6 years of experience ideally with a combination of process (RTR etc) and partnering experiences, ideally within a multinational environment
-
ACCA/ACA/CIMA membership or progressing student
-
Strong analytical skills
-
Business Finance experience
-
Fluent in English (verbal and written). C1
-
Advanced skills in systems especially Excel and PowerBI, preferably with knowledge of MS Power suite (PowerQuery etc) would be additional asset; experience with TM1/Cognos and SAP is preferred.
