Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated Experience Designer to join the ABCmouse product team. The ideal candidate is a strong visual designer/artist who can wrap solid UI/UX in lively, illustrative, engaging designs that delight our core audience, kids ages 3-6. A playful creative POV is a must in both thought exercises and creation of art assets and experiences. This role is a truly unique blend of illustrative and product design, a chance to combine excellent art skills with user empathy and systems thinking.


As an Experience Designer on ABCmouse, you will collaborate closely with the creative and product leadership, Curriculum, Research, and product teams to create best-in-class interactive educational experiences. You’ll meld the best user experiences with product vision, providing clear designs for both parents and kids. You’ll be a “capital D” Design thinker and an excellent visual designer who maintains mastery of both the thought and aesthetic sides of the creative process.


This position requires high attention to detail and the ability to balance fun and learning based on research findings and live data to create lasting learning outcomes for young kids.

Responsibilities:

  • Create, design, and own the implementation of fun, engaging features, content, events, and other product experiences that provides meaningful context to both parents and kids. This includes not only design thinking, but the visual assets that end up in the final design.
  • Be the voice of and advocate for meaningful design for users and drive user experience design through all design-thinking phases of development and product implementation.
  • Work closely with game design, art, animation, and a cross-functional teams on the UI/UX design implementation and iterate on our product experiences to engage, surprise, and delight users.
  • Collaborate with design research, data analytics, and other departments to evaluate, engage, retain, and activate our users and drive design decisions for efficient, effective product experiences that converts users to improve KPIs. 
  • Assess and apply both qualitative and quantitative feedback to improve informed design through highly engaging experience tuning across the entire product evangelizing the best practices of experience design.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possess 5+ years of professional experience in Visual Design, Interaction Design, and/or Information Architecture, creating comprehensive UI/UX Design for modern high-quality, cross-platform applications that entertain and/or educate.
  • Figma, Adobe CC fluent
  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Computer Science, Fine Arts, HCI or related fields; or equivalent experience with an emphasis on Visual, Experience, and Product Design.
  • The ability to visually design playful interfaces that are intuitive and appealing for very young learners. Illustration and motion capabilities a huge plus.
  • Exceptional creative problem-solving skills with an adaptable, flexible mindset.
  • Strong collaborative skills with the ability to receive and give constructive feedback as well as strong interpersonal communication skills to work independently.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills with the ability to change priorities as new opportunities arise.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills to both technical and non-technical team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of contemporary children's media, especially children’s educational apps and learning games.
  • Motion design capabilities. Huge plus if you are able to design and animate using Rive and an even bigger plus if you understand state machines within Rive.
  • Experience using both qualitative and quantitative research findings and live data to drive product design decisions and iteration.
  • Capability of iterating divergently in low fidelity and refining solutions at high fidelity.
  • Experience designing cross-platform experiences (iOS, Android, Web).
  • Familiarity with working in a scrum/kanban/agile environment.

Total Compensation:

The estimated salary range for a new hire in this position is $100,000 USD to $150,000 USD. Salary may vary depending on job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
