Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX:

ARC’TERYX is growing -- in guest experience richness, in variety and sophistication of business models, in operational volume, and in automated workflows. The Technology group and the architecture practice are a key part of supporting and accelerating ARC’TERYX!

We believe that Enterprise Architecture, done right, is the pinnacle of Tech engineering practice; led by seasoned tech engineers that bring their experience and judgement to the craft of delivering functional designs and system strategies and have gravitated to the architecture career path. Forging technical plans in an evolving landscape and team collaboration -- from business leader to developer -- is core to our practice.

As we grow, core capabilities for managing and enabling a sophisticated, multi-region, multi-country human workforce (or bird force as we like to say!) and for managing mission-critical financial resourcing and accounting processes increases. This enterprise architect position requires passion and demonstrated experience in discovering, leading, and designing human capital management (HCM) and financial-systems architecture and technology strategies in our Corporate Services domain areas.

This role can be hired remote. Remote candidates must be committed to Pacific time zone hours aligned with the ARC’TERYX headquarters location in North Vancouver, B.C.

Meet Your Future Team:

The architecture team is an enabling group in our Technology department supporting our business application, service platform, and product teams. We research and produce architecture options for business projects and major initiatives, align projects with strategic priorities and policies, own and maintain explanatory views of extant systems, and guide tool and vendor strategies. Working directly with product management and tech engineering teams, we ensure architectural plans transition successfully to delivery and operation.

As a component of the over-arching engineering excellence practice, the architecture team are also key sponsors and stewards of the engineering guild that provides community, best practice, emerging trends, education opportunities, role definition, and career guidance to our larger family of tech engineers.

If you were in the Senior Enterprise Architect role now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:

  • Teaming directly with our corporate services business owners and product teams to understand tactical and strategic needs and our current state
  • Creating and owning conceptual architectural views that describe and inform our “system estate” technology portfolio in corporate services
  • Leveraging your engineering and architecture experience to guide our business and product teams to “what excellence looks like” in your domain-focus areas
  • Performing discovery and inking conceptual architecture options for projects that scope the change that will be delivered, alignment with strategy, key risks and advantages of the solution, enabling business and product teams to deliver with clarity and quality
  • Defining and leading engineering guild activities, inclusive of architecture practice, and evangelizing practice excellence

Here are some of the things you could be working on in the future:

  • Leading enterprise architecture for additional Corporate Services areas including real-estate management and legal
  • Leveraging your “back-end systems” experience in ERP and merchandising cross-cutting projects
  • Defining and driving cross-cutting initiatives such as carbon-emission and energy reductions in tech deployment and contributing to circularity goals in our overall supply chain and product lifecycle
  • Developing architecture group common practices and artifact styles
  • Advising and shaping developer services in support of agile-lifecycle software development and service deployment

Are you our next Senior Enterprise Architect?

  • You have demonstrated passion and accomplishment in HCM, Finance, and adjacent corporate systems domain areas
  • You have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
  • You may also have advanced degrees or certifications in technology leadership, cloud computing, or system architecture (highly desirable)
  • You have 12+ years in tech engineering roles of increasing responsibility and sophistication including prior experience as an tech architect
  • You have experience discovering, planning and solving cross-application and business domain requirements and conceptualizing and leading end-to-end design
  • You have design and operation experience in several application domains including HCM, Finance, and ERP
  • You have solid experience evaluating vendors and deploying HCM, finance, and ERP in a company’s overall system ecosystem with strong focus on data and process integration and flow end-to-end
  • You have experience with solution option synthesis and authoring with option trade-offs, required policies, solution risks, and best-fit recommendation
  • You have experience assessing and document current systems and domain flows as springboard to informing and leading project design and domain strategy
  • You have skills and desire to guide and inspire tech engineering best practices and mentor skills, techniques, and career path
  • You have strong communication skills, capable of inspiring teams and stakeholders with a clear vision and innovative thinking
  • You have direct retail or adjacent domain experience
  • Your passion for your work is paralleled by your passion for getting outside and living it
