Pacific Biosciences (PacBio) is seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic Platform Engineering team in Menlo Park, CA. As a leader in the field of high accuracy sequencing technology, PacBio is dedicated to advancing scientific research and healthcare solutions through innovative genomic technologies.
Role Overview:
The Platform Engineering team is responsible for continuously improving the existing tools, platforms and processes at PacBio. We enable efficient development and deployment of high-quality software. Members of the team contribute across the entire software development process: managing and enhancing our deployment infrastructure and processes, building and maintaining automated tests and continuously improving the underlying platforms in our DNA sequencers. This individual will work closely with multiple software teams and support them. For this role, the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment will be critical.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and enhance existing tools, platforms, infrastructure and processes
- Incorporate new capabilities into existing software deployment infrastructure
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to infrastructure and applications
- Drive automation and innovation across all stages of software development, release, operations, and maintenance
- Write testable, cross-platform code
Required Qualifications:
- A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- Typically requires a minimum 4-8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or a minimum 2-6 years of experience with Master’s degree; or a minimum 0-5 years of experience with a PhD
- Fluency in one or more of the following languages: Python, C#, C/C++
- Ability to write and understand complex shell / bash scripts
- Deep understanding of Linux operating systems, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
- Experience utilizing virtual machines such as VMware and container infrastructure such as Docker
- Experience troubleshooting and working with complex systems
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with medical and diagnostic devices in the biotech or health tech industry
- Development experience in integrated software for instruments or embedded systems
- Familiarity with CI/CD build tools such as Bamboo, Jenkins and TeamCity
- Experience with monitoring systems such as Grafana, Prometheus and Zabbix
- Familiarity with builds systems such as make, CMake, Gradle, and npm
Non-Field Based Employees are required to be onsite Monday-Thursday (Friday work from home). Depending on the role, some employees may be required to be 100% onsite.

Salary Range:
$128,800.00 - $193,200.00
