REGENT is building the seaglider; the first electric flying machine that will transport commercial passengers. With a vehicle that never flies higher than a few meters off the water, we unlock the ability to fly twice as far as an electric aircraft, and certification by maritime authorities which will let us fly first passengers by mid-decade.
We are backed by the world’s best investors: the same investors who are behind SpaceX, Anduril, and Boom Supersonic, in addition to strategic investors like Lockheed Martin, Japan Airlines, and Hawaiian Airlines. We have over $9B in orders from some of the industry’s largest operators and are hard at work getting our full-scale, human-carrying prototype on the water next year.
As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer, you will architect, develop, and integrate low-level hardware-interfacing code responsible for critical seaglider functionality. You will work with a variety of sensors and actuation systems, communication protocols, and compute platforms that provide real-time monitoring and control of our vehicles. You will mentor and guide junior engineers, helping them grow their embedded software skillsets, and guide them through integration challenges. You will be a core contributor to our vehicle control system and the infrastructure that supports it, like Hardware-in-the-loop and Iron Bird Test Beds.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
- 6+ years of relevant work experience working with real-time embedded systems
- Strong programming skills in C++, in both bare metal and UNIX environments
- Experience writing device drivers, hardware emulators, and hardware abstraction layers for embedded systems
- Experience defining, communicating, and developing software requirements and high-level design principles
- Safety-critical software development experience (aerospace, medical, automotive, or similar applications)
- Developing software on resource-constrained RTOSs and configuring RTOSs (VxWorks, DEOS, etc.)
- Experienced with object-oriented design principles
- Experienced with digital communication protocols like RS422/485, CAN Bus, etc
- Scripting experience in Python, MATLAB, or Bash
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
- 8+ years of relevant work experience
- Master's degree or greater in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
- DDS Publish/Subscribe architectures
- Building simulation environments with Simulink or LabVIEW
- Comfortable reading electrical schematics
- Experience with common electrical lab equipment like Oscilloscopes, Multimeters, Signal Generators, etc.

What We Do
REGENT’s mission is to drastically reduce the time and cost of moving people and goods between coastal cities. Our vehicle, called a seaglider, is an all-electric, wing-in-ground-effect craft that operates within a wingspan of the water's surface and couples the speed of an airplane with the operating cost of a boat. Built to the same safety standards as all modern aircraft and watercraft, our vehicle will service routes up to 180 miles with existing battery technology and routes up to 500 miles with next-gen batteries, all via existing dock infrastructure. Our world-class team of aerospace and maritime engineers are leveraging maritime vehicle development pathways to bring our zero-emission, high-speed seagliders to market within five years.
