Senior Embedded Software Engineer

Vannevar Labs supports people on the front lines by building tools that deter and de-escalate conflict with America's adversaries. This mission has become urgent. The US and our allies are fighting a war of deterrence with woefully outdated technology. Since our founding in 2019, we have grown to support a wide range of missions and capabilities across all U.S. service branches, multiple combatant commands, partner nations, and the intelligence community. The sensing team at Vannevar Labs is building a new hardware product that supports a widespread need for cheap, attritable, and easily coordinated sensing. We’re looking for an experienced embedded software engineer to build robust, performant, and modular sensing systems.
You will be a member of a cross-functional team made up of software engineers, machine learning specialists, former military officers, and product strategists. You will be expected to own critical product features and contribute to the overall direction of the platform we are building.

• 4+ years of experience in software development in a general purpose programming language
• Experience working on embedded Linux systems 
• Proven experience owning features end-to-end from development, test, and release
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be a U.S. resident or citizen
• U.S. Person status is required as this position will require the ability to access U.S. only data systems 

Qualifications (nice to haves)

• Experience with software defined radio
• Experience with low-level firmware
