Job Description SummaryGE Healthcare Surgery is committed to designing Intraoperative imaging systems that are clinically relevant and provide an optimal experience for surgeons and interventionalists to visualize anatomy and lesions, guide interventions, and navigate inside the human body. Our mission is to change the standard of care in surgical interventions with real-time visual guidance, giving surgeons the information needed to immediately make critical decisions. The scope of automation will cover both Fixed and Collaborative automation including all supporting automation technologies.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Expand Manufacturing Automation: Work with the NPI team/s to help design for automation, define/develop automation concepts, work with key vendors/integrators to deliver cutting edge solutions, and work with the local teams to deploy automation into production.

  • Best Practices Integration: Research’s, studies, and proposes use of new technologies, processes, and industry trends, helping GEHC stay current with new automation innovations. Work extensively to leverage and project manage outside vendors/integrators to deliver automation solutions to our manufacturing plant.

  • Automation Implementation: Create training materials, provide technical training on automation process technologies, and take part in training deployment strategies across the business.  Support the effort to create standard automation equipment/User Requirement Specifications to further drive component standardization, data standards for brilliant factories, and standard safety risk assessments.

  • Problem Solving and Creative Solutions: Applying creative solutions and ideas, driving productivity and quality in the manufacturing of our products utilizing key automation technologies like collaborative robots, AI, AIV’s, and traditional automation techniques.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical/Automation, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or other STEM field from an accredited university or college.

  • Experience: At least 10 years of experience in automation technologies.

  • Automation Expertise: The scope of Automation Processes includes Assembly Automation, Electronics Automation, Collaborative Robots (Universal Robots, Omron, Fanuc, ABB…), Fixed automation, digital torque, Visual 2 & 3D Inspection, OEE, digital dash boards, Autonomous Intelligent Vehicles (AIV’s), Data Collection, AI, general automation technologies, integration of PLC’s, HMI’s, Motion, and supporting our Brilliant Factory initiatives by connecting the physical process to digital information.

  • Diversity of process background: a combination of electronic and mechanical experience

  • Involvement from ground level: identifying equipment to use, procuring equipment, etc

  • Project Management: Demonstrated ability to lead programs/projects, document, plan, market, and execute programs, and established project management skills.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Experience with PLC programming and HMI development.

    • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC UA, Ethernet/IP).

    • Familiarity with CAD software for designing automation systems.

    • Understanding of machine learning algorithms and their application in manufacturing.

    • Experience with vision systems and image processing techniques.

    • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java.

  • Advanced Education: Master’s degree from an accredited university or college.

  • Industry Experience: Experience working in the medical device industry.

  • Communication Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Interpersonal and Leadership Skills: Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Problem-Solving Ability: Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
