Who We Are

Boston-based company Piaggio Fast Forward Inc. (PFF) was founded in 2015 by the Piaggio Group (the Italian manufacturer that created the iconic Vespa scooter). We are on a mission to build technology products that move the way that people move. To bring products to market today, PFF is solving the problem of robotic interaction with people in dynamically changing environments. We’re innovators, neighbors, and creators with a passion for local living and pushing the limits on urban transportation. We support a sustainable mobility ecology with healthy lifestyles and social connectivity available to all, regardless of age or abilities.

The Role

PFF is looking for a driven Electrical Engineer to design analog and digital systems. You will be helping to build robotic and lightweight transportation products. As an Electrical Engineer, you will need to be forward thinking and have a strong technical experience in some of the following areas- robotics, power electronics, digital systems, and design for manufacturing. This is an opportunity for you to join a results oriented team and work on an increasing portfolio of products. On a daily basis you will evaluate the team's specifications and/or product goals to create the final budgeted design. If you like getting things done well and solving challenging problems, you will enjoy this opportunity!

Responsibilities and Requirements

  • BS and/or MS in EE or related discipline or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of professional experience; 3+ years of relevant experience in either automotive, automation, or robotics sectors
  • 2+ years of production design experience
  • PCB design, schematic capture and electrical layout (Altium)
  • High speed digital routing (DDR, Ethernet, parallel busses)
  • PCB assembly and testing
  • Cable assembly design, prototyping, and documentation
  • Working understanding of EMC/EMI testing and standards
  • Planning, executing and documenting tests to validate and/or improve products
  • Interface with engineering, design, overseas manufacturing and service teams
  • Excellent written and verbal skills

What You’ll Do

  • Perform electrical design of complex embedded systems and board level testing to validate that new products meet design goals
  • Conduct Schematic capture and perform necessary simulations with SPICE
  • Develop innovative product concepts through a process of collaborative brainstorming and verifying feasibility with a combination of analytical tools and physical modeling
  • Develop, document, and execute design verification testing. Report results and recommend appropriate engineering tradeoffs to optimize functional performance, reliability, and product cost
  • Synthesize product specifications based on device use case and user needs
  • Guide design team through the concept selection decision making processes to ensure that technical considerations factor into alternative narrowing and selection
  • Provide insights into emerging technologies and uncover, identify and create business and product opportunities during strategic conceptualization efforts
  • Represent electrical engineering considerations within multi-disciplinary development teams and providing situational leadership to help drive projects to technical and business success
  • Interact with stakeholders through meetings, presentations, design reviews and informal interactions - building trust and respect through a highly collaborative development process
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams during the design phase to achieve product design goals
