The position
In this position, your task will be to establish and head the area of Experimental Medicine within Global Translation in Research & Early Development. It is a unique opportunity to drive human data generation and exploration in the space between research and clinical development.
As the Head of Experimental Medicine, you will:

  • Establish and operate the governance framework for ideation, operationalization, prioritization and funding of the experimental clinical activities.
  • Ensure operational execution of clinical activities and build a new team to include relevant skill types.
  • Together with relevant stakeholders across R&ED and Development, drive ideation of clinical activities supporting de-risking the portfolio, disease understanding and technology development.
  • Build capabilities and deliver human data to increase our understanding of biology and increase likelihood of success of our growing and diverse portfolio.
  • Contribute to the overall strategic direction of the CVP area with a continued focus on translation, de-risking and human data generation.


Qualifications
To thrive and succeed in this position, we would expect you to have:

  • An MD and/or PhD in a relevant area.
  • Solid experience in drug development and early clinical trials (ideally from phase 1).
  • At least 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong leadership background with a commitment to creating an environment of trust and with a focus on continuous people development.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across all organizational levels, functions and cultures.
  • High level of personal engagement, drive, independence and integrity.


About the department
Global Translation is spearheading the translational methodology which is part of ensuring the continued success of Novo Nordisk. The area is currently executing Novo Nordisk strategy to enable biomarker-driven drug discovery and early development.
The area serves as a bridge between our company's activities in research and development. We are applying a translational mindset and we are identifying biomarkers and generating relevant early human data which can support decision-making. We are responsible for early clinical testing of the next generation of products changing the lives of patients with chronic diseases. We work across all the therapy areas in Novo Nordisk.
The area is of strategic importance to Novo Nordisk and is reporting directly to the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO). Based in Måløv and Boston, we are a team of currently approximately 100 people working across all the therapy areas and driving changes in our approach to research together with stakeholders throughout the entire global organization.
