Job Summary
The Senior Director of Principal and Major Giving is a key leadership position at Endicott College, responsible for crafting and implementing a comprehensive strategy for individual giving. This position oversees the major gift officer team and plays a critical part in securing principal and major gifts that advances the College’s mission.
This ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record in major and principal gift fundraising, as well as effective team leadership. Key responsibilities include collaborating with colleagues across the College, supporting leadership travel, and organizing impactful events that enhance donor engagement and support.
Key Outcomes
60% of Time: Securing Major Gifts of $50,000+

Conduct 100+ meaningful donor or prospect meetings annually.

Prepare detailed briefs and reports on giving activity, progress, and future opportunities.

Curate and manage a portfolio of up to 75 high-value prospects.

Track progress and report on solicitation outcomes and pipeline status.

Collaborate with the stewardship team to develop customized cultivation and stewardship plans for major donors.
20% of Time: Team Supervision and Development

Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of major gift officers, providing guidance, setting performance goals, and ensuring effective execution of individual and team plans.

Collaborate with fundraisers on portfolio management and prospect advancement.

Monitor team progress and adjust strategies to maximize performance and achieve fundraising targets.

Track and analyze fundraising metrics, providing regular reports and updates to senior leadership on goals and key initiatives.

Utilize data-driven insights to refine strategies, improve performance, and inform future planning.
10% of Time: Strategic Planning with Senior Leadership

Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and manage a cohesive strategy for principal and major gifts that aligns with the college's priorities and goals, ensuring effective messaging and engagement in fundraising efforts.

Develop and implement fundraising strategies, including planned giving initiatives.
10% of Time: Donor and Prospect Relationship Building and Engagement

Follow up on appeals, events, and other engagement opportunities.

Participate in prospect strategy meetings and advance prospects through the pipeline.

Share knowledge with team members and participate in team events.

Develop deep knowledge of college priorities to align donor interests with institutional needs.

Bachelor's degree required, master's or equivalent preferred

A minimum of seven years of experience in major gifts fundraising, with a proven record of securing both major and principal level gifts.
