The Role:

Sunbit is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Director, Capital Markets to join our growing team. This critical role will be responsible for developing and executing Sunbit's capital markets strategy, including managing existing warehouse facilities, managing and expanding the company’s forward flow loan sale programs, structuring and executing the company’s ABS strategy for both the unsecured loan and credit card products, executing growth capital funding transactions, and optimizing the company's capital structure. This highly visible role will drive the selection, management and expansion of relationships with key external partners and debt investors and lead the successful completion of corporate and portfolio-level transactions supporting Sunbit’s growth across all products (Point of Sale unsecured consumer BNPL loans and Sunbit credit cards), making this a vital role in driving the company’s financial and strategic objectives.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong leadership and communication skills, financial acumen, deep understanding of and experience in the relevant capital markets, and a proven track record of success in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

This position reports into the Chief Capital Officer, and will primarily work remotely, but will be required to travel to industry conferences, meetings (often in NYC) with investors, bankers and other key stakeholders, and to the LA headquarters as necessary.



Requirements

What You'll Own:

  • Capital Markets Strategy: Develop and execute Sunbit's overall capital markets strategy, aligning it with the company's growth objectives and risk tolerance, including leading an ongoing and dynamic analysis of various financing options (including warehouse facilities, securitizations, private placements, forward flow whole loan sales, etc.).
  • Transaction Execution: Lead the processes involving analyzing, structuring, documenting and completing funding transactions through various capital markets channels, serving as the company’s key liaison with external partners (advisors, underwriters, legal counsel, investors, etc.) and driving execution internally in partnership with colleagues across functional areas. Includes understanding, negotiating and completing legal agreements relating to structured finance transactions.
  • Capital Management: Oversee the management and monitoring of existing warehouse facilities and whole loan sale programs, ensuring compliance with covenants, reporting requirements and managing utilization across funding channels to optimize borrowing costs. Monitor market conditions and identify opportunities to refinance or restructure debt.
  • Securitization Programs: Lead the development and execution of securitization programs for each of the company’s unsecured loan and credit card products, including structuring transactions, working with legal and financial advisors, identifying and executing operational setup, and managing ongoing performance and reporting.
  • Financial Modeling & Analysis: Develop and maintain financial models to analyze capital structure, evaluate funding options, and assess the impact of various market scenarios.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other teams, including finance, accounting, legal, operations, and product, to ensure alignment on capital markets initiatives.
  • Market Research & Analysis: Stay abreast of market trends, regulatory changes, and investor sentiment in the capital markets. Provide insights to senior management on potential opportunities and risks.
  • Investor Relations (Debt-focused): Cultivate and maintain relationships with investors, rating agencies, and other key stakeholders in the capital markets. Develop a deep understanding of the company’s business strategy and corporate and asset-level financial performance, and work closely with existing and potential investors, including providing standard and ad-hoc analyses. Prepare investor presentations, manage due diligence processes and onboard new investors.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing capital markets team. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

What You Bring To The Table: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field. MBA or CFA preferred.
  • 8-10 years of progressive experience in capital markets, with a focus on structured finance with warehouse facilities, ABS issuance and investor relations.
  • Strong understanding of financial modeling, valuation, and risk management.
  • Proven ability to execute complex structured finance transactions and/or asset-backed securities (ABS) capital markets transactions.
  • Existing relationships with investors and other key players in the debt markets is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and creatively.
  • Advanced in MS Suite
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and strong work ethic, with a commitment to excellence.
