Our System Modeling team architects, develops, and maintains the Telesat Lightspeed System Model application, a state-of-the-art engineering software tool running on high performance computing (HPC) infrastructure for the modeling of resource allocation, and evaluating end-to-end system performance of the Telesat Lightspeed satellite constellation.
As a Senior Dev Ops Engineer, the selected candidate will help design, implement, and manage scalable on-premises infrastructure solutions that support the System Modeling and Quality Assurance teams. The Dev Ops Engineer will work to Enhance and maintain CI/CD pipelines within a GitLab environment.
Main Responsibilities
- Design and implement CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI to enhance release processes
- Maintain and improve infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform and Ansible
- Monitor and troubleshoot system reliability and performance issues using Prometheus and Grafana
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate DevOps methodologies
- Automate system and software updates to minimize downtime
- Ensure security best practices are followed in deployment processes
- Optimize and manage High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments
- Support and integrate MATLAB workflows into the DevOps pipeline
- Develop and maintain documentation for processes, tools, and systems
Education and Experience Required
- 5+ years professional experience in DevOps or similar role
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Proficiency with CI/CD tools like GitLab CI, Jenkins, or CircleCI
- Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash
- Experience in MATLAB development environment including testing framework and compilation
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git
Specialized Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent problem-solving skills with thorough attention to detail
- Highly collaborative team-player who can quickly earn the confidence of co-workers and teammates
- Experience with agile development
- Experience with High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments and cluster job managers is desirable
- Strong understanding of cloud services, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is desirable
- Fluent in English, written and oral. French is an asset
The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP).
