APM Terminals

One of the 4 core strategic pillars in APMTs longer term strategy is operational excellence: “This is our platform for current and new terminals, where all value streams are standard, scalable, and replicable from acquisition, to construction, integration and all the way down to running a terminal”. Implementing, optimizing and scaling Operations Technology will play a pivotal role in achieving our strategic goals, ranging from initiatives like implementing complex brownfield automation at fast pace to optimize manhours per move or efforts to optimize running-hours per move by deploying asset digitization in our more conventional terminals. To be successful, our terminals need to be supported by a focused, aligned and agile global team that adds value by Subject Matter Expertise, standardization and agile decision-making. The Senior Deployment Manager leads the execution of the product deployment roadmap and the deployment teams to deliver the projects effectively (scope within budget and timeline), ensuring products support value realization as per approved business cases.

  • Enable the deployment teams to operationalize global, cross-functional product definitions within terminal specific conditions including any related site-specific configurations that need to be aligned between global and local stakeholders.
  • Manage the deployment teams to effectively implement the automated products in the live terminal operations as per plan and without local business disruption as well as resolve any related challenges on day-to-day basis.
  • Continuously ensure the deployment fulfils all site-specific needs as defined in consultation with the terminal team within the product blueprint for site deployment.
  • Ensure consistent deployment approach across all sites that the given product is being deployed in and resolve any related challenges.
  • Own deployment specific performance criteria and monitor the progress and take actions as needed.
  • Work closely with Product pillars to establish a common deployment approach and achieve improved product experience, make use of the best practices and ensure the relevant framework is implemented / followed.
  • Work with suppliers to develop the effective business partnership and proactively ensure their delivery is meeting the APM Terminals plans/targets.
  • Facilitate the first line of support for the given deployment at the terminals until go-live and remain involved until Operations stability.
  • Monitor all deployment related risks and opportunities and lead their mitigation / exploitation. • Establish the framework of facilitating capability building / knowledge transfer to terminal staff as part of the deployments.
  • Ensure due compliance, safety and other relevant regulations to be adhered to during the deployment.
