We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator (Azure SQL) to ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of our database systems. In this role, you will focus on query optimization, schema management, and performance tuning, collaborating closely with development teams to implement the best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Performance Optimization:
- Monitor and analyze database performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
- Optimize SQL queries and stored procedures to enhance application performance.
- Ensure indexes are well-defined and maintained.
- Evaluate performance across releases to ensure consistency.
- 2. Query Tuning:
- Conduct performance assessments and optimize query execution plans.
- Utilize tools like Azure SQL Database Query Performance Insights and Query Store to track and improve query performance.
3. Schema Management:
- Design and maintain database schemas for optimal data integrity and normalization.
- Work with Development & Change Management teams to implement schema changes with minimal downtime.
4. Backup & Recovery:
- Develop and manage backup and recovery plans to ensure data availability.
- Regularly test backup and recovery procedures to validate effectiveness.
5. Security & Compliance:
- Implement and enforce database security policies, including user access controls and auditing.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards for data protection and security.
- Enable role-based access control (RBAC) at the column level for geo-sensitive data.
6. Collaboration & Support:
- Work closely with development teams to provide database design input and support application development.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related production issues.
- Assess and guide the migration of business logic from stored procedures to middle tier services.
- Educate development teams on efficient database access using LINQ and C#.
7. Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, procedures, and performance metrics.
- Generate reports on database performance and optimization efforts for stakeholders.
Requirements:
o Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
o Experience: At least 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, specializing in Azure SQL Database. With overall, 10+ of IT experience.
o Technical Skills:
- Strong expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and schema management.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Monitor, Azure SQL Analytics, and Azure Data Studio.
- Familiarity with C# and LINQ for database interactions.
- Understanding of database security best practices and compliance requirements.
o Soft Skills:
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Strong communication skills for cross-team collaboration.
