The Senior Data Scientist develops innovative data science solutions based on technologies, tools, algorithms, and methods from the data science field. They develop solutions from ideation through prototyping and production deployment, including scaling of these solutions.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for identifying, evaluating, and modeling relationships between diverse data types across various application areas, e.g., production, R&D, procurement, SCM, sales/marketing, and finance.
  • Fully responsible for conducting both exploratory analysis and complex modelling tasks using methods and tools of statistical modeling, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
  • Furthermore, responsible to creating strategies and roadmaps for the creation, visualization, and operationalization of reusable analytical models and the required end-to-end processes from prototyping to scaling in production.
  • Responsible for translating requirements into prototypes and MVPs while simultaneously populating and maintaining our use case pipeline, including evaluating individual use cases based on dimensions of importance, urgency, feasibility, and financial impact.
  • Validation of the work of less senior colleagues, while supporting and training them in all aspects of data science, ML and AI

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field with 7+ years’ experience in the data science domain; OR Master’s degree with 5+ years’ experience in the data science domain; OR PhD with 3+ years’ experience in the data science domain
  • Experience in project management and agile methods
  • Experience working in an international environment with virtual teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or PhD preferred

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proficiency in programming languages for analysis and modeling
  • Proficiency in data wrangling and manipulation
  • Strong understanding of statistical concepts and methodologies
  • Experience with machine learning algorithms
  • Experience with cloud platforms
  • Ability to craft compelling narratives that convey insights and engage stakeholders
  • Collaborative, team player mindset
  • Proven track record of quickly learning and applying knowledge to creatively solve problems
