We are seeking an exceptional Data Scientist with deep expertise in classification techniques, particularly for challenging scenarios involving imbalanced datasets and anomaly detection. The ideal candidate will combine advanced theoretical understanding with robust implementation skills across Python and Spark ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement sophisticated machine learning models for classification problems with highly imbalanced datasets.
• Develop advanced anomaly detection algorithms with high precision and recall.
• Create robust data preprocessing and feature engineering pipelines for challenging datasets.
• Implement machine learning solutions using Python, PySpark, and Databricks.
• Critically evaluate machine learning algorithms, understanding their mathematical foundations and inherent limitations.
• Develop and maintain scalable machine learning infrastructure.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship in machine learning techniques.

Required Qualifications:

• Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Computer Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, or a related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of professional experience with machine learning, specializing in classification problems.
• Expert-level understanding of:
• Supervised and unsupervised classification algorithms.
• Techniques for handling imbalanced datasets.
• Advanced anomaly detection methodologies.
• Comprehensive knowledge of machine learning algorithms' theoretical underpinnings.

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in Python and PySpark.
• Advanced Databricks implementation experience.
• Deep understanding of:
• Classification algorithms (Logistic Regression, Decision Trees, Random Forests, Gradient Boosting).
• Anomaly detection techniques.
• Handling class imbalance (SMOTE, class weights, ensemble methods).
• Experience with big data platforms and distributed computing.
• Strong statistical modeling and mathematics background.

Specific Technical Requirements:

• Ability to explain algorithmic limitations and potential failure modes.
• Experience with techniques like:
• One-class classification.
• Ensemble methods for imbalanced data.
• Advanced resampling techniques.
• Proven track record of solving real-world classification challenges in high-stakes environments.
