Job Overview
We are seeking a Senior Data Procurement Analyst with extensive experience in financial data procurement including both Research and Market Data. In this role, you will serve as the primary liaison between our business teams and data vendors, ensuring we secure optimal data to efficiently meet business needs. You will guide contract negotiations, vendor evaluations, and data onboarding. You will also seek opportunities to streamline processes and automate cost reporting. Key Relationships
Reports To: Chief Data Officer
Other Key Relationships: Trading, Technology, Risk, Accounting.
Major Responsibilities
- Own and cultivate relationships with research and market data providers.
- Build relationships with business stakeholders across trading, risk, operations, and technology.
- Gather and interpret SFMs business requirements to provide advice on products and vendors that best fit the firm’s needs.
- Negotiate contracts and optimization license configurations to reduce data costs across the firm.
- Review contract terms & renewals, validate commercials, evaluate products, and ensure internal compliance with data usage rights.
- Manage occasional audits of our data usage by vendors, usually Bloomberg.
- Catalog data vendors and contracts to produce clear expense reports for business stakeholders.
- Approve invoices and reconcile them against contract terms.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience with financial industry data procurement.
- Excellent communication skills, especially in the data domain.
- Hands-on experience with a vendor invoice management tool such as Calero.
- Broad knowledge of market data and vendors such as Bloomberg, FactSet, LSEG, and others.
- Proven ability to interpret contracts, negotiate commercials, and manage the contract lifecycle.
- Project management skills to shepherd product trials, reviews, and onboarding.
- Methodical approach to documentation and organization.
- Demonstrate deep understanding of data content and business objectives from your previous projects.
- Basic data analysis skills using Excel, Python, BI tools, and SQL.
Preferred Skills
- Process oriented: work with IT to automate processes where possible.
We anticipate the base salary of this role to be between $125,000-200,000. In addition to a base salary, the successful candidate will also be eligible to receive a discretionary year-end bonus.
