We’re responsible for CommBank’s key analytics capabilities and work to create world-leading capabilities for analytics, information management, and decisioning. We work across the Group Data Warehouse (Teradata), Hadoop Big Data Platform, Tableau, Ab Initio, and Data Stage.

This role is ideal for an experienced Senior Engineer with a strong background in building ETL applications and commendable production support experience in deploying and managing large-scale, complex big data applications on a Hadoop platform. Reporting to the Operations Manager for Data Operations in the Chief Data Office, you will interact with a range of internal teams and stakeholders.

We’re interested in people who

• Have solid expertise in build, deploy, release management, and containerization of applications on a Cloudera Hadoop or similar big data platforms

• Are knowledgeable with AWS EMR and GLUE is desirable

• Have extensive experience with platform management, operational or production support for complex big data platforms

• Are comfortable in Linux/Unix, SPARK

• Have exposure to automation and configuration management tools such as GitHub

• Pride themselves in having a passion for learning new skills along with a positive ‘Can-do’ attitude

• Are comfortable in communicating with business stakeholders and technical leadership groups

Tech skills 

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team; 

• Building and Supporting data pipelines using Bigdata Hadoop 

• Scripting knowledge in Linux, Unix or Python 

• AWS EMR or Glue  

• Streaming frameworks such as Kafka
