We are looking for an experienced Sr. Data Engineer (Senior Power BI Developer) to join our Strategic Ops team. This role will involve developing advanced business intelligence solutions and transforming complex data sets into meaningful insights through interactive dashboards and reports. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analytics, business intelligence, and a deep understanding of Power BI and DAX. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work with cross-functional teams to support data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Dashboard & Report Development
- Design and develop advanced, visually compelling, and user-friendly dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI.
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and user expectations.
- Implement complex DAX calculations and data transformations to support business insights.
Data Modelling and Transformation
- Build and maintain data models optimized for performance and reporting.
- Use Power Query to clean, transform and organize data from multiple sources.
- Work with large, complex data sets to ensure efficient data processing and report loading times.
Data Integration & Source Management
- Connect and integrate Power BI with various data sources (Snowflake, SQL Server, Excel, etc.).
- Collaborate with data engineers to define data architecture and ETL processes for reporting purposes.
- Ensure data integrity, accuracy and security through effective data management practices.
- Drive automation, writing and running scripts, scheduling jobs, fetching data using API calls,
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with business analysts, data engineers, and other team members to gather requirements and understand reporting needs.
- Conduct regular meetings and presentations with stakeholders to demonstrate report capabilities and gather feedback.
- Support ad-hoc data analysis requests, providing actionable insights based on business needs.
Performance Optimization & Best Practices
- Optimize reports and dashboards for performance and responsiveness, particularly for large data sets.
- Implement row-level security and manage permissions to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance.
- Establish and maintain Power BI best practices, including naming conventions, data organization, and documentation.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Experience: 5-7 years in business intelligence, data analytics, or related field, with at least 5 years of experience in Power BI development.
- Technical Skills:
- Power BI: Expert-level
- Proficiency in Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and Power BI mobile.
- Data Analysis Expressions (DAX): Advanced skills in DAX for complex calculations and data manipulation.
- SQL: Strong SQL skills for querying databases and data manipulation.
- Power Query: Experience in data transformation and ETL tasks.
- Data Modeling: Proficient in data modeling and database design, with a strong understanding of relational databases.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving skills with a solution-oriented mindset.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with experience in presenting findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented, with a focus on accuracy and consistency in reporting.
Experience with other BI tools such as Tableau, QlikView, or similar.
This position requires fluent written and oral communication in English.
