About the role

Title: Senior Customer Business Manager (SCBM)

Reports to: Channel Controller

London Bankside (Field based role)

The core responsibility of this role is to engage our customers in our brands, identify potential for growth and develop and execute plans that deliver against the priorities for our Haleon Healthcare & Oralcare portfolios.

This role requires a passionate and determined individual who has a proactive and progressive mindset to work with a desire to drive their personal learning and professional development.

At Haleon we partner with a variety of customers across a diverse portfolio. We are looking for individuals that can act as a lead for the category, represent our business and its values and work cross functionally in a variety of team dynamics and customer/channel environments.

Individuals are expected to own and manage the full P&L for their respective business remits demonstrating a drive for results based on best in class execution, solid financial discipline and data led decision making taking into account a variety of retail platforms (Omni, Online, In-store, Quick Commerce).

A SCBM is expected to be an expert in their customer/channel, capable of managing a complex category or mix of customers and translating Haleons strategy for growth to their areas of responsibility. A SCBM also acts as a conduit for the business with our customers ensuring the business are informed of the strategy of our retailers and how it may shape our future plans.

A solution focussed mindset is essential with the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and challenges.

Key responsibilities

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following…

  • Strategic Planning – To develop and deliver a business strategy with the customers across the Haleon Consumer portfolio which delivers long term sustainable growth across all key measures.

  • Understand and deploy levers to deliver consumption, share and penetration for customer and Haleon brands as per defined GB sales strategy, and deliver GBI P&L (NS, GM & OP, Cash flow) by partnering across functions in market to develop and deploy the defined strategies.

  • Customer Driven – To build relationships with key customer contacts and utilise these relationships to influence decisions being made in the Oral care/Healthcare category.

  • To make key category recommendations to the customer on range, distribution, space promotions and NPD

  • Adopt a cross functional approach to ensure engagement and support across multiple teams so that they can act as a champion for the customer ensuring their needs are continually met and exceeded.

  • Financial Management – To build a range of P&L’s in order to understand the shape and profitability of the business and identify opportunities for future growth.

  • To build and develop a robust commercial calendar that delivers both against Haleon and customer needs.

  • Responsible for development and implementation of JBPs including the NRM execution and delivery of our commercial growth framework.

  • Continuous Improvement - Engaging in a mindset that persistently questions standard practises, so that new ideas and approaches can be looked at in order to deliver even more profitable results ensuring in-year course correction actions are taken as required (within strategic guidelines defined with Net Revenue team).

  • Execute and deliver outputs of RGM cells for the key power brands with clear focus on out-execute and responsibility to influence and inform planning cycle based on customer strategy changes. 

  • Improves our Advantage score position at the customers on critical levers like partnership, strategy development and growth.

  • Systematically reviews multiple data sources to track customer performance by channel/category and brand, proactively recommending course correction activities if required.

  • Connecting the SiT with EPOS and customer plans to ensure the best bottom up volume forecast. Owns the CBP forecast for the team on a 12 month bases

  • Focused on maintaining/improving cash flow position of the customer in line with business guidance

  • Play an active role in the commercial Haleon community supporting the performance and development of the business.

Qualifications and skills

Essential

  • University Degree with significant sales, marketing and commercial experience essential.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

  • Understanding of how an Account Manager/Buyer relationship functions.

  • Broad business knowledge and market understanding.

  • A tenacious and entrepreneurial approach in the role is key to building and sustaining new long term relationships.

  • Financial numeracy to be able to build strategically sound, financially robust proposals that exploit opportunities.

  • Interest and energy to build channel and customer development and growth
