Neogen is looking to hire a Senior Cost Accountant. This individual will work supporting our USAC (US and Canada) Food Safety division and be responsible for key Cost Accounting and Inventory reporting for the business.

This role follows a hybrid model, combining in-office and remote work. We offer flexibility in scheduling to accommodate individual needs while maintaining team collaboration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly inventory reserve analysis.  Candidate should be able to effectively manage large data sets & able to partner with Operations to identify any inventory balances requiring a reserve.
  • Perform monthly analysis on manufacturing variances (PPV, Direct Labor & Overhead Variance) to identify appropriate capitalization of variances into Inventory.
  • Support costing of bills of materials on newly released products.
  • Work with Operations to calculate & verify cost savings actions.  Proactively support identification of cost savings opportunities to help drive improved performance.
  • Participate in driving successful annual Physical Inventory process.  Assist with cycle counting exercises as needed.  Collaborate with Operations to identify areas of opportunity to improve inventory management processes.
  • Maintain excellent documentation on balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accurate balance sheet amounts are always recorded.
  • Assist with internal & external audit requirements, including being a contact on audit related questions.
  • Comfortable navigating ad hoc requests and able to prioritize workload effectively to consistently deliver results.
  • Good at managing multiple deadlines and has excellent communication skills.
  • Willing to proactively identify process improvement opportunities with an ability to implement identified improvements.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 3+ years of experience in accounting roles, primarily in manufacturing settings.
  • Exposure to cost accounting in SAP.
  • High level of proficiency working with Microsoft Excel.
  • Track record of working effectively in a cross-functional environment (especially with Ops business partners).
  • CPA license is a plus.
