What you’ll be doing

The Senior Consultant, Funding and Liquidity Management is a key member of the Liquidity Solutions Team. Reporting to the Director, the Senior Consultant will be responsible for designing and implementing innovative liquidity reporting solutions while collaborating closely with business units, data teams, and technology partners to facilitate effective and efficient outcomes. This position involves designing and executing changes to a robust liquidity framework to enhance accuracy, timeliness and transparency. Additionally, the Senior Consultant prepares and presents detailed analysis or reporting to senior executives, supporting the liquidity risk framework of CIBC. With strong analytical skills, a collaborative mindset, and a keen interest in liquidity management practices, the Senior Consultant plays a vital role in enhancing CIBC's liquidity reporting capabilities and ensuring alignment with the bank's strategic objectives.

How you’ll succeed

  • Solution Design – Design, develop and implement solutions to support Liquidity Management to ensure regulatory compliance and support continuous improvement in liquidity analytics and monitoring.

  • Project Management – Lead strategic initiatives and projects on liquidity reporting solution, including establishment of technology requirements, reporting framework and documentation requirements.

  • Strategic Development & Implementation – Support the development of strategic liquidity reporting in Toronto and US regions by providing solutions and recommending tactical approaches.

  • Innovative – Promote an environment where innovative solutions are employed to ensure efficient, timely problem resolutions, which meet business needs and regulatory requirements.

  • Gain Expertise in Liquidity – Develop an in-depth understanding of the underlying liquidity reporting framework & infrastructure. This includes gaining familiarity with the output metrics in liquidity reporting and their key drivers: Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR), Net Stable Funding Ratio (NSFR), Net Cumulative Cash Flow (NCCF), Liquidity Stress Testing and Resolution Planning.

  • Develop Infrastructure – Develop an expertise in QRM (Quantitative Risk Management system), and how to maintain, run and configure it to produce the necessary output for reporting. Including implementation of reporting assumptions, provide the best in class design and solution, and working with the vendor on any novel solutions.

  • Strategic Insights & Recommendations – Equipped with the knowledge, provide strategic insight and recommendations in all areas of Liquidity Management to senior management, on how to best utilize the reporting and data systems. Support with ad-hoc reporting inquiries and data analysis, as required.

  • Relationship Management – Be a liaison for Treasury Data Management, Treasury Risk Management & Technology and lead coordination of individual projects to ensure accurate and timely delivery of daily, weekly and monthly reports.

  • Collaboration – Work with Treasury Asset Liability Management team (ALM) on the shared QRM infrastructure & underlying data for a single CIBC Treasury implementation.

  • Business Acumen – Act as a subject matter expert on Treasury infrastructure with respect to interfacing with internal Audit, Compliance and or Model Validation team, as needed. Participate in control process review and testing, and further resolve in a timely manner all compliance gaps with respect to liquidity and funding risk.

Who you are

  • You have prior banking experience preferably in a Treasury, Risk or Technology roles. It’s an asset if you have experience and knowledge of CIBC treasury systems and database, liquidity management practices.

  • You can demonstrate experience in designing, implementing and testing technical solutions for financial or risk reporting. This includes investigating reporting issues, interpreting complex reporting requirements, translating these into practical steps (solution requirement documents), directing the implementation and testing the solution.

  • You love to learn. You're passionate about growing your knowledge, and you know that there is no limit to what you can achieve. You have a keen interest in learning about treasury reporting infrastructure (including QRM system) and liquidity management (OSFI Liquidity Adequacy Requirement and Basel III).

  • You give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating complex problems as well as resolving and troubleshooting data integrity. You're confident in your ability to solve problem through technical solutions and communicate results in an impactful way.

  • Strong project management skills. You have the ability to manage project independent, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines effectively.

  • Strong interpersonal skills. You have advanced interpersonal skills sufficient to work with cross functional teams, and convey complex conceptual and/or technical information and ideas to partners and senior management.

  • You can demonstrate technical proficiency. You are proficient in SQL language for custom queries and data manipulation. You are also proficient in data analysis through Excel. It’s an asset if you are proficient in QRM and VBA.

  • You understand that success is in the details. You notice things that others don't. Your critical thinking skills help to inform your decision making.

  • You have a degree/professional qualification in Engineering, Finance, Math, or accounting related fields (CA, CFA, FRM, MBA).
