To reduce our dependence on rainfall and groundwater and support the growing population, Water Corporation has formed the Alkimos SeaWater Alliance, which includes ACCIONA Construction Australia.
The Alliance will design, construct, operate and maintain the Plant which will produce 50 billion litres of drinking water per year, with provision to expand by an additional 50 billion litres per year in the future.
We are seeking to recruit a Senior Community Relations and Communications Advisor. Reporting to the Project Support Services Manager, your role is to work in close collaboration with Water Corporation to shape and implement the project's Communications, Community Relations and Stakeholder Engagement Strategy.
Based predominantly at our Alkimos site, this is a dynamic role that will see you assist our client with community and stakeholder relations, external communications and also drive the Alliance’s engagement strategy. You will often be on-site, in high-vis, working closely with our entire team to identify interesting parts of this incredible project and developing channels to share them.
Key accountabilities for the position:
- Proactively support the engagement planning and activities with the community of residents, schools and other key stakeholders to communicate construction progress and impacts to ensure the Alliance establishes and always maintains positive and proactive relationships with local communities.
- Provide material for the Water Corporation to develop external stakeholder communications and to respond to media and ministerial enquiries.
- Implement the internal communication and employee engagement plan.
- Build strong relationships and work collaboratively with the wider project team to identify and deliver on opportunities to capture progress and shine a spotlight on the engagement initiatives that we implement.
- Work with the management team to effectively communicate key issues to our people as they arise.
- Manage photography and videography services and maintain a library.
- Contribute to the development of management strategies for media and communications issues, both current and emerging.
- Apply a high level of detail to the writing, design, production and distribution of project communication collateral, both internal and external.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Professional experience in a communications role, ideally with some customer or community liaison exposure in a relevant similar role.
- The desire to seek out interesting and engaging communications materials related issues and share them with the team.
- Experience working with a diverse range of stakeholders across blue and white collar will be useful, with the ability to build rapport and develop strong working relationships, but is not essential if you have the right outgoing interpersonal skills.
- A genuine interest construction of complex engineering project will be important and we are looking for someone who will be proud of being part of the team delivering such an important piece of infrastructure to the people of Perth.
- Ideally, you have a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign or similar software. Photography and video production, editing skills are also desirable.
