We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our E-commerce and Partnerships Team! In this role, you will primarily use Python, Flask, AWS, Docker, CI/CD, PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB. This is a hybrid position with 2 days/week in the office, and the employee MUST be located within the San Francisco Bay Area.

What You’ll Do

• Be a key part of a team of developers in designing and building software systems with best practices in scalability, reliability, and security.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand and translate business requirements into technical requirements.
• Design and build features and functionality delivered on time and within scope
• Ensure code quality and maintainability by doing reviews and establishing coding standards and best practices
• Improve observability of our services and work with our DevOps team to improve performance and reliability

What You’ll Bring

• 8+ years of experience delivering complex software systems and solving technical challenges
• Track record of leading software development teams through challenging projects
• Strong backend experience using Python and Flask and/or FastAPI primarily
• Experience with similar tech stacks (e.g., Ruby on Rails, Java, or Node.js) and frameworks (e.g., Django) is a plus
• Frontend experience with frameworks like React/Next.js/Typescript is also appreciated
• You’ve been developing on one of the major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, and/or Azure) and have worked on automated testing and deployment pipelines
• Experience in CI/CD pipelines such as Github Actions, CircleCI, or GitLab CI
• Deep knowledge of different databases like PostgreSQL and/or DynamoDB, including schema design and performance optimization
• Ability to break down complex projects into components or milestones that other engineers can easily pick up
• Motivation to influence our engineering organization to level up the quality, reliability, and performance of the services we ship
• Demonstrated collaboration with co-workers on cross-functional teams
• Experience building consumer-facing applications and internal tools
• Experience with eCommerce and direct-to-consumer transaction systems
