Your job:
In the Senior Backend Engineer role at Doctolib Siilo, you’ll work alongside a team that is passionate about building and delivering great products and great customer experience.
You’ll be responsible for everything on the server-side of our products; from supporting our client developers with design and development of APIs, until monitoring that our applications and databases are secure and running smoothly in the AWS cloud. Alongside that, you’ll play an active role within our technical team, helping us shape our product vision and strategy.

You will be responsible for:
- Building, owning and maintaining Doctolib Siilo’s backend providing API’s for our mobile and web clients using Java 17, Spring Boot, Akka and more. Additionally contribute to our web based internal admin-tool (Angular).
- Managing and monitoring our cloud infrastructure at AWS that we are migrating to use “infrastructure-as-code” (Terraform) more and more
- Ensuring our user’s data is safe and secure by keeping security and privacy front and center to everything you do.
- Collaborating with your peers working on Android, iOS, web and Doctolib’s Rails backend building an awesome experience for our 650,000+ users and contributing directly to growing Doctolib Siilo's network of healthcare professionals.
- The full development life cycle, including communicating with stakeholders (for instance product, design, QA) throughout the development process, as well as debugging production issues.
What we’re looking for from you:
- 8+ years experience with API design and development using Java 8+ (we’re currently on Java 17)
- Experience running software on cloud infrastructure, ideally AWS
- Ideally experience with frameworks and libraries like Spring Boot, Akka and Protobuf
- Experience working with database technologies, preferably JPA, MySQL, MongoDb and Elasticsearch/Opensearch
- You enjoy figuring out why things work, not just that they work
- You’re fluent in English
