We’re looking for a driven Backend Engineer to join our team and help eliminate the financial complexity of healthcare. We value creative, outside-the-box thinkers that back their ideas with technical knowledge and action.
We have a small, growing, and highly-capable development team. This Level 2 Senior Engineer should be comfortable leading and mentoring developing engineers. In this role, we’re looking for someone who can successfully navigate uncertainty and lead complex projects to success. As a leader on the team, you’d have a large impact on the growth and direction of the development team.
Responsibilities
- Design and build strong, resilient, and robust APIs, libraries, and tools to power healthcare pricing products
- Be responsible for full software development lifecycle: design, development, testing, and operating in production
- Work cross-functionally with Product and subject matter experts to conceptualize, prototype, and build API endpoints
- Draft internal and external technical documentation
- Seek and prioritize technical and product feedback from internal customers
- Iterate quickly with an eye towards value
- Experience designing APIs and building endpoints and backend systems in Python
Here’s what you bring to the role:
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience/knowledge. We are happy to work with strong candidates with non-traditional educational backgrounds
- 7+ years demonstrated experience in backend development, building API endpoints and building scalable backend systems
- Experience working with different programming languages (Go, Java / Kotlin / Scala / etc)
- Experience creating libraries and tools for engineers and operations
- Experience working with SQL or NoSQL databases
- Experience with OLAP datastore technologies such as ClickHouse or Apache Pinot
- Familiarity with software engineering development lifecycles
- Entrepreneurial mindset: you prioritize tasks with an eye for evolving business needs. You can problem solve independently
- Ability to work effectively in a remote environment
