Job Description
What you will do
- Research, identify, and evaluate potential private equity opportunities across the US financial sector as well as across global markets
- Develop a business network and sourcing capabilities within one or two of four key verticals (TMT, Business Services, Healthcare, and Financial Services)
- Build the competency necessary for the clients to execute and fulfil its investment objective
- Provide support to clients in investment decision making and investment monitoring processes
- Provide advisory and underwriting services for M&A, equity and leverage finance solutions by creating and analyzing detailed financial models
- Perform valuation analysis via public trading comparable data analysis, prudent transactions, DCF and LBO methodologies
- Provide assistance in preparing reports and recommendations to the Client's various committees
- Perform market sizing and forecast, assessment of competitive positioning, scenarios analysis, sizing and substantiation of operations efficiency improvement plan, including potential implementation challenges
- Perform business diligence and risk underwriting
- Perform management assessment pre and post transaction and recommended needed action plan
- Participate in the creation and implementation of a value creation plan following an investment
- Lead streams with external advisors, including but not limited to legal, commercial, and financial streams
- Build high quality, detailed yet flexible business plan, operations improvement and financial models to support deal underwriting and structuring efforts
- Participate actively on various boards (incl. compensation, audit, board of director, etc.)
- Summarize and explain DD findings from various advisor streams to internal and external stakeholders
- Design key performance indicators and reporting metrics to track the operational performance of the investment
- Provide opinions and appreciation of co-underwriter/investors on potential transactions
- Perform ad-hoc analysis to support transaction negotiations
- Develop analyst and associate team members in advanced modeling and other aspects of deal and analysis process
- Perform fundamental research and analysis of targeted corporations and sectors according to the investment strategy developed by the Client's portfolio manager
- Prepare documentation related to corporations and the portfolio (summary research report, synopsis sheet, financial model and evaluation, etc.)
- Track the progress of the financial results (quarterly and annual) of targeted companies
- Formulate opinions and recommendations based on various analysis conducted and then submit opinions and make appropriate and effective recommendations for sectoral and general portfolios
- Help develop effective systems for securities analysis and evaluation
- Participate in the legal documentation review process
- Maintain current knowledge on evaluation methods in their sector
- Communicate financial and business information effectively to various parties including other analysts and private equity fund managers, investment partners, and management of partner companies and investment targets.

What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics or Finance or the foreign equivalent and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation in private equity direct investment, strategy consulting, or investment banking
- Two years of documented experience using the following skills and competencies: Numeric market forecasts by segment, from macroeconomic analysis and industry trends
- Complex and flexible operational and financial models;
- Public trading comparable data analysis, prudent transactions, DCF and LBO methodologies
- Advanced Excel & PowerPoint with refined Think Cell charts
- International accounting rules (GAAP and IFRS)
- Fundamental investment analysis
- Software programs and databases for the financial market (Bloomberg, Capital IQ)
- Project financing or tangible assets
- Legal process for PE transaction (incl. Canadian & American)
- Fiscal reporting and structuring (US GAAP & IFRS)
- Fund/GP ecosystem and minority deal structuring
- International travel required once per month for business meetings (to Canada)
- Remote working or telecommuting permitted in all U.S. States, in accordance with company policy
- Relocation to the area within reasonable commuting distance of the job location is required.
Salary: US$230,000/year.
